The RS 250 is a cracking hot hatch

Evo.co.uk has one as long termer - you can read up on their monthly reports.

Oh... a mob called K-TEC make a chip upgrade for the RS250 290hp!

Sad to hear Danny, but its like when you kill a GOAT - the whole village gets to eat!

Actually, its nothing like that at all, you ****ed up and switched teams.

MODS, please delete users account. HAHA ok end rant.

All jokes aside, nice going Danny and purchasing a solid performing hot hatch car! hope you get much pleasure driving it, like - now!

Congrats on the new ride! Am sure it will give you lots of fun. Given the circumstances, you do what you have to, right.

The future buyer of your ride will appreciate that someone else takes a hit on initial depreciation

The RS 250 is much cheaper than the R (including DSG and all the other acronyms required to make it right it will cost a bomb!) to start with. As if the R doesn't depreciate at all... Who wants to bet that the current R will depreciate more than the V6 R32? Why would you pay much more for a second hand R when the GTI has basically the same engine?!

Hope I'm not, just speculating about depreciation like anybody else around here
I actually thought long and hard about this before deciding to give up on the R... So yeah, I'm sure he won't lose more money selling a 3 year old 250 than selling an R. I'm also sure he will have at least as much fun, if not more, driving the French one instead of the top shelf Golf.

Most cars depreciate in value, they're not an investment, so enjoy every drive like its your last!

                  Totally agree with both statements!
I buy my drive to enjoy it, not necessarily thinking about saving a couple of grand in 3 years time. In fact, more often than not, a really great drive will have great resale value as well. Let's talk about the 250 in 2014, shall we?

                    Hi guys,

figured this might be right place for this post

Ordered my R back in September, Rising Blue 5 Door DSG plus some mods..... Got a call from the dealer yesterday and it arrived but it was a little different to what I ordered, infact it was a 3 Door (Manual I think), silver with Sunroof...... Little different huh ?

Anybody else getting this ? Dealer frantically calling around to get the right car sourced and apparnetly VW are assisting, but after 4 month wait not keen to go to the back of the que as well.

Will keep you up to date with progress, been looking forward to the car for a while now be a pitty to miss out.

Hey mate, being the stingy mutha I am, I made sure I shopped around just as much as I did with the VW. Got myself a great price for this one as well with all the options, so hopefully, that initial depreciation hit will be smothered a little.

Apparently, these things are holding some 63% of their value in 3 years which is pretty good, and admittedly, in the 4 years I had the Clio 182, It held its value quite well too. I was always taught by Italian Parentals to NEVER buy brand new, but god damn it, I can't help falling for that untouched, shiny, new car smelling goodness wrapped up in plastic... MMM.

It should be a crackr of a thing really, Its nowhere near as refined as the R, but as far as performance goes, its a sharp thing round a track, and lap figures show it. Will be great fun, thanks all for your replies, I honestly thought I'd be chased out with torch and pitchfork!

REXman, lol thanks for making me chuckle, hey all, I think I may just have to hang around here from time to time and come on a cruise!

                        Congrats,

Love the car, it has a lot of presence on the road.

Do you mind me asking what you paid for the RS250?

                          out.
So the most wanted combo car (blue, 5 door dsg) has gone missing and was replaced with probably the least wanted combo - 3 door silver manual. You wouldn't want to believe in conspiracies would you - lol

Let me see, dealer expects you to believe that they ordered a car that was totally different to your specs or that VW built a car different from what was ordered? Forgive my cynicism but I'm going out to check to see if there are fairies at the bottom of my garden or if there is a flock of pigs flying by!

Congratulations on a great purchase. The lure of a brand new car sitting in the lot just waiting to be driven out without the frustration of the long wait for the R would be almost irresistible to anyone but the most diehard VW fan. I had a Cliosport 172 for 3 years without a single issue and it was an awesome car and brilliant fun to drive. I got back good money for it too. Considering the RS is closer in price to the GTI than the R it's awesome value!
