VW Scirocco for Australia. Any Golf R buyers thinking of swapping?
They had better be letting people crawl all over it etc.
The ONLY reason I am going down there is to be able to sit in it etc so I can make up my mind on Ordering....

nice color and hope it can be option for golf R, hehe
MY12 Golf R (In garage now) RB--DSG--5DR--ACC--19 Talladega (blk)--Sunroof--Leather--MID--Bluetooth
items in hand: Millteck TBE, WedsSport 19" rim, S3 intercooler, ITG intake and more
I am not going to be happy if that is the case....and I will have words with people on the stand...well VW people anyway.
There is simply no reason to advertise the "release" of the model if you don't have one available for people to plonk their butt into...
At the Sydney Motor Show last yea they had the Adidas GTi for people to sit in and admire as well as several Golf R's.

what in the F!!! of all the colours they picked the green one...................your kidding u can't sit in it..............lol.........dam cars been released for yrs now........
Heh, I agree. Green, meh. And having it roped off is frustrating. It's not like it's a prototype or anything. There are tens of thousands of them in existence around the world!
I saw Scirocco at the motorshow, so glad I ordered the Golf R. The two tone leather is the only nice thing I could see thats better than the Golf R. But the New Touareg looks nice in the Blue v6 Diesel put on some 21" wheels it will be a nice ride. Nearly have the Mrs convinced to get it as her next car
Current Ride: Golf R candy white,DSG, ACC, 19" Talladega wheels, leather and Bluetooth
While I was pretty disappointed initially with VWA having only one Rocco there and not letting anyone actually sit in it (and I tried) I am glad I went.
The colour... well they wanted to get attention... and that part worked. The staff... were not too knowledgeable but looked impressive with their iPads ready to sign you up to the VWA website.
We got to be up on the stand with the door open and while I didn't sit in it...they did have the door open for me to have a good look, as well as opening the hatch up for me as well.
Interesting facts that came out of it... As suspected it is the same Power etc as the Golf R (derated from European specs to 188kw), there was no ACC fitted to this car so I doubt it will be "standard" but could be wrong.
It was fitted with the standard Kyalami design cloth seats (not 2 tone leather) and are Heated as standard...
There was no pricing info or options list etc. We were told some conflicting info on availability... 3 different people said there had been a briefing before the opening yesterday and they were told the Rocco R would here in October 2011 while another guy (who knew very little) said early 2012...
Now one thing I did notice was the Rocco seemed to be "airier" when looking in through the drivers door than doing the same thing on the Golf R 5 door. I guess 3 door Golf R owners would notice something similar....
For all those who said the EOS has the same basic interior as the Rocco, you were right, apart from colours and door trims, oh and seat design and steering wheel...other than that they are the same.
Time to talk to my friendly VW dealer about an order I think.

They're probably both right... in relation to the dates. Whilst it might be able to be ordered in October 2011, your order will be unlikely to be here until earler 2012, unless you're willing to settle for whatever is allocated to the dealers on release. Note that you cannot pre-order a Volkswagen.
Your comment about the "airier"-ness of the Scirocco is interesting. It is one of my big reasons for driving a 3 door. The B-Pillar is moved back quite a lot from the 5 door models.

I must admit that when they said Oct 2011 I asked again... and each time was told "in the country" so I am guessing there is a certain amount of initial stock of varying colour and specification already on order for it to arrive here in October.
I am happy to wait until Feb or March to get exactly what I want.
I have been told by several Dealers now they are happy to allocate one of their "initial" stock to me, once all details are released and they can take orders....for a small deposit, subject to pricing and specification etc etc. I have a preferred Dealer that as yet I haven't talked to as they are a couple of hours drive away...but I will be
soon.
Too be honest I hadn't paid much attention to the B pillar before. I have only ever had the opportunity to sample 5 door Golfs but I must admit, they seem a touch claustrophobic after seeing the glasshouse effect of the Scirocco. It will be even more airy with the Panoramic sunroof.

That is what I want...lol.
I was hoping they would have had a selection of cars at the Motor Show...
And I agree.... the boot lip is fine for anything that is going to fit in there and plenty of room, for a 3 door sports coupe.
