What Accessories are you buying for your MK6 Golf?
Mate its your car do whatever you want with it. But i guess 60% of the time people don't even use their foglight. So for showroom
purposes, i see no problems with it =]
MY11 90TSI Golf - White Candy, DSG, RCD 510, OEM R taillights, 18" Audi RS-4 with Kumho KU-31,
Bollocks, where is it written that not only does every job on a vehicle have a manufacturers standard time attached but this is also a requirement of fair trading?
That RNS 510 install may be a piece of cake for your particular setup/car/environment but one where a car needs a CAN bus upgrade is totally different. There are also a number of ways to perform the install which can vary the cost substantially. Not to mention that some dealers charge $100 an hour and others charge $150 an hour. Not to mention that if the RNS 510 is supplied by the customer it may have a firmware/hardware version that may create other problems.
Manufacturers create a "Flat Rate" or "Standard Time" for even the simplest of tasks - I worked for a short stint in a "Dealership Warranty Office" the manufacturer set times dictated how much the dealer was paid for the labour charge of a warranty repair. Irrespective of how long the job took they only pay to the standard time.
Dept Fair Trading uses manufacturers "Standard Times" in the often held disputes with mechanics overcharging - also something I have been involved with on a few occassions. As proprietor of a Service Station many years ago and as a so-called "EXPERT WITNESS" in a dispute.
I am sure if you talk to any mechanic or dealership they will give you or can find out the standard time for any task quite simply - you can even find the publications such as "Chilterns" on the net
TID was one of the brands that I looked at before organising the first of the S2TPP group buys last year. TID have several models of DSG paddles, but at the time they were all rather highly priced. Whilst the price of those ones are much cheaper than previously, it's still a lot for two flat pieces of acrylic stuck to two pieces of molded plastic. The shape of the acrylic, whilst looking interesting, although tacky imo, also don't look too comfortable.
The S2TPP paddles are made from machined aluminium, are of a traditional and comfortable design, and to me look the goods in a MK6:
It's just the difference in camera settings, light conditions, and the fact that you have lots of light biege to make your eyes thing the black is any blacker than in the GTI or R
I'm a tad colour blind, but I'll wait for a 3rd opinion in any case
Compare GTD to this one. The center part that covers the air bag looks similar, but the rim looks a bit different. I've seen other non-sport Golf's with the normal interior, and they seem darker inside than the GTI and R... weird.
Ordered my H&R sway bars during the week, cost $697AUD shipped from the states as I had to do a wire transfer (~$22 fee heh). Set of DBA4000 slotted rotors and Ferrodo DS2500 pads arrived yesterday. Just gotta pick up some fluid and fit them so I can hit the track again!
If people have a contact in the states, APR USA is having a summer sale. Prices are actually good, ie Fuel pump or FMIC are under $950USD.
Do you guys get Endless brake pads here? We have MX72s installed on our cars and they work brilliantly. Better than Ferodos when we had them on my old Evo.

Which part number are the rotors? Where did you get them from? I tried looking for some DBA ones the other week but coulnd't find anything for the R.
Oh and my sway bars arrived a couple of days ago, they look mint.
