What Accessories are you buying for your MK6 Golf?
Looking at getting some "Wind Deflectors", "Door Sills" and "Mud Flaps".
Does anyone else considered these extras for their Golf, are they worth adding ?
Any recommendations on eBay sellers ?
Got myself 4 floor mats - front and rear (with Golf logo on it and round clips) and boot rubber mat with the "lip" and "Golf VI" imprinted on it. All together for $180. Can't complain about it at all. The place I got it from are actually making floor mats for all local dealerships in the city, that apparently being thrown in for free in one of those super-duper deals that sales guys are offering.
Looking at getting a car holder such as Belkin TuneBase Direct or similar for my iPhone 4. Can anyone confirm that it will work with iPhone 4, seen many saying that it works with 3G and 3GS? Or maybe another alternative? Just want charger and holder in one, but without sticking in to the window or vent.
What other accessories do people usually add to their car ?
The place you got your mats & boot tray from.. Do you reckon they ship to Sydney? Do you have a website for them? Looks like you got a good price for both..

I'm keen to get a boot liner. I got these quotes from Barloworld parts in Five Dock (for the MK6 Golf):
I bought mine from supercheap for $30 and cut it to size.. made of rubber and looks great.. not perfect but for the time I spend looking in the boot it don't matter.. still get asked where I got the customised boot liner from
Current Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist
I got my foam boot liner for approx. $110. I need to find the receipt, but I'm sure it's no more than $110.
Yeah. Truth be told when I was calling around, Five Dock (parts) were the only ones that picked up the phone! It could very well be cheaper at other dealerships.

Can anyone recommend some good places to get things (besides Stealerships) ...
Found some great wind deflectors (ClimAir) but with the shipping it will cost about $200... Don't think it's really worth the money...
Did anyone get these any cheaper elsewhere?
* Another add-on is "REVERSING/PARKING SENSOR", you can get it for about 35 bucks delivered... The question is: does anyone found them helpful and how much is it to install them (I know you can DIY but I'm not very handy in that department)
* Also, if I were to buy RCD510 (approx. $500) or RNS510 (approx $1000) off eBay and bring it into the dealership or other VW servicing place and ask them to install it, how much would they charge for the job? ...or will it be the same $ amount if I would buy the unit from the dealership and then ask them to install it???
* Does anyone know how much is to install a car alarm at the VW dealership (including the actual alarm)?
Sorry, I know, too many questions but I didn't want to create another thread...

for your installation price questions, just call a few dealers and ask them. There is no "overseeing body" which says that "x job must cost y". You could also look in the electronics forum on how to install a RNS510 yourself...
OK, called some dealerships, apparently I can't install a genuine VW alarm because it must be fitted at the factory... sigh...
Found out that the weather shields (aka "wind deflectors") cost around $118-120, so no need to import ClimAir from overseas.
To install RCD510 (6 stack) unit will take about 30 minutes and will come down to about $75-80 plus the actual unit from the eBay ($500). (Can someone tell me the major differences between RCD510 and RNS510, besides the last one being GPS Navigation Unit? and whether it's worth it to replace the basic 310 unit with it???)
Mudflaps:Is it easy to install them on Golf 6 (non GTI version), the sales guy told me that it's pretty much straight forward process, however I saw on youtube one guy was installing mudflaps on his Jetta and it took him 2 hours and he had to take the wheels off and do some drilling. So, is it "snap-on" kind of installation or "take-me-apart-and-drill-me-all-over" kind?

Thanks for that...
What about mudflaps installation?
On the Mk VI GTI they take 21 minutes for the front and 21 minutes for the rear for a VW dealer to fit (these are recommended fitment times from Volkswagen so they will vary per dealer).

Every job on a vehicle has a manufacturers "standard time" As do governing bodies such as the MTA and the SSA. Also a requirement of the Department of Fair Trading. Just the actual hourly labour rate changes, but it also doesn't vary all that much - of course dealers have a higher labour rate. Standard Times manuals are readily available from good motoring book suppliers as well as the MTA.
Therefore the fitting price shouldn't vary much between dealers - having fitted a RNS510 recently, piece of cake, take Corey's suggestion and how to install, there's a good video of the installation.

Bollocks, where is it written that not only does every job on a vehicle have a manufacturers standard time attached but this is also a requirement of fair trading?

That RNS 510 install may be a piece of cake for your particular setup/car/environment but one where a car needs a CAN bus upgrade is totally different. There are also a number of ways to perform the install which can vary the cost substantially. Not to mention that some dealers charge $100 an hour and others charge $150 an hour. Not to mention that if the RNS 510 is supplied by the customer it may have a firmware/hardware version that may create other problems.
