Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • How much is a BlueFin stage 1 upgrade for the Golf R? Sorry for my ignorance, but what's that remote control looking thing on the website?

        • Wow! This almost makes the APR Stage 1 tune seem like a rip off! But you get wayy more power increase with APR though..

          • Well at $1700 I will have to expect a lot more. The bluefin does give a big increase too, it's only slightly less than the others but then again it's the mapping and power curve that should fit with your driving not how much power.

            • Does the Bluefin re-program your ecu when you plug it in your interface or do you have to run around with it dangling from the port. I presume the latter otherwise we would only need to buy one and do all our cars!

                  • lol... yeah, the device is "attached to your car" once you use it.
To "transfer" it to another car, you need to pay a fee or something (and very likely first also put the stock tune back on).

The company wouldn't exist if you could just buy the device once, and then hand it to all your mates with the same car/ECU

                    • Ordered and coming soon

the factory ECU map will be copied to the device.. so i don't think using the device on several other GTIs would be a good idea, as if it will work anyway,

you want to keep your own factory ecu map for just in case.

                      • OK, just got off the phone to Guy.
                        have decided on the following.

                        1. ECU Tune
                        2. Carbonio CAI
                        3. HP Fuel Pump.

Waiting on fuel pump stocks, and then will install.

                          • I believe this only happens if they have to do major work to a tune. ie something has gone wrong and you ask them to sort it out.
I believe they don't touch the ecu tune parameters when doing scheduled servicing.

Of Course a service technician is free to dissagree if this isn't the case.

                              • If there's a software update for all cars (i.e. that old 118 TSI service campaign) that would overwrite it I think. Probably won't happen but you never know.
