Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Since I got my 118 TSI, I've purchsed:

RNS510 from the London Ebay seller
9W3 Bluetooth from the Poland Ebay seller
Rear mudflaps from Burwin VW ($80 just for the rear set)
    VCDS from Ross-Tech
Boot organiser from SuperCheap (has velcro to stick to the carpet)

Does anyone know if I can get metal racing pedals (i.e. GTI ones) for the 118 TSI? I also wouldn't mind getting the DSG shifter from the GTI as well, but can live without it if need be. Paddles would've been nice, but at $2000 I might as well save the money towards a Mk7 GTI.

I might also get a weathershield for the driver door, and rear mats (car came with front ones). Illuminated door sills would be cool, but I can only imagine that they would cost a pretty penny. They might also make me look too chav as well.

Yeah, the cost of changing the 118TSI's steering wheel so that it supports the DSG paddle shifters is prohibitive.

As for the pedals though, have you looked at the ECS Tuning MK6 "Rabbit" Pedal page? Make sure you don't get a dead pedal from them, because they're LHD specific, but I can't see how the rest of the pedals wouldn't fit a RHD car.

I already have some Lakin Plates and covers, as well as ST2P Paddles. I have also arranged with Phatt Audio for a custom subwoofer/map for the trunk, Roadkill as well as a Viper alarm and GPS tracker and some paint protection film.

Exhausts for half the price (in the case of APR) of those available in Australia. I personally love the stock sound and the ARP RSC sounds way too aggressive for me. I haven't heard of Billy Boat before, but $489 for a 3 inch downpipe system is very good. Combine that with the Carbonio, and for $913 at today's exchange rate - delivered, you'll have yourself Stage 2 ready. And possibly no rattle.

I wonder what APR would charge for Stage 2 if you don't buy hardware from them.....
I would steer clear of the BB DP btw, u have to cut a few inches of your stock cat back for it to fit. I would also be wary of 42dd exhausts as they are made from aluminised steel rather than full stainless.

If anyone is looking to get a torque arm insert dubaddiction is selling them for 50% off which at $35 is a bargain! Its the same as the MY09+ mkv gti btw.

I am thinking of buying these aspherical mirrors.

                        Mirror Glass - Aspherical [5K0857521] - $185.00 : OEMplus.com, Original Equipment

The blue tint should also go look nice with the Rising Blue duco.

They don't have a blue tint. I'm not sure why they have a picture of a blue mirror on that page, but it's not correct.
Btw, you already have an aspherical mirror on your drivers side, so all you need is the LHD drivers side aspherical mirror.
So do what I did, order it from ECS Tuning for only US$65 instead of paying US$185 for two mirrors when you only need one

Alternatively there are also these ones:

Parts4Euro.com - OEM & Aftermarket European Parts & Accessories for VW, Audi, BMW, Mini & Porsche

                              And they definately look blue.

Has anyone tried whether the underseat MK5 storage drawer can be retro-fitted to MK6?
