Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Not sure if this is a repost....

Had a quick squiz at the latest MOtor Magazine with this years BFYB test.

Good result for VW. Golfs fill two of the three top positions. I leave it for you to go read the actual results

Its in the magazine. I just subscribed to it. Took the plunge cause I have been buying it (religiously some years) at the newsagent. So I did an online search and got a discount code.

      $66.95 for 1 year, delivered.

This should be my first issue!

They don't post much info at all, there is a piss poor portal on the ninemsn website (a true abortion when it comes to internet sites) for the magazine but it usually has next to no info on anything. A scan of at least the cover and contents page would be a good start. I bought it for the first time in years to read the R vs Evo X review but can't say it was worth the cover price. Only thing which might be ok is their long term drive of an R. They previously had a GTI and I think the last issue mentioned they'd be getting an R.

Last time I was at the airport I bought a copy of the UK TG mag (also with the R in it), cost twice the price but its bloody huge. Its a far more interesting read than the aussie mags.

            o i c....

i bought the same copy actually.... for exactly the same reason - R v evo.... not that much content in the mag itself i thought, i did like the fact they said the gti held its own aginst the R and evo (although i would, i bought one so i need to justify the $$ everyway i can!) price v performance that is

will keep an eye out for the latest one if golfs 2 of the top 3 though........

Coolies. So obviously they figure there is more "bang" for your "buck" in the GTI, since it loses all the performance tests.

I guess that's the buck part coming into it. If Hyundai could do a 2L Getz with sporty suspension for ~$15k drive-away then they might well win even if the 0-100 was 11secs & it did Wakefield in 1:20

PS: Sorry to all those that just had a little vomit at the thought of a sporty Getz
