  • So are we talking simply HPFP and a tune? No down pipe?
Yes, just the HPFP and the stage II software as I'm still thinking about getting the down pipe.

Did you pay for the Stage 2 tune + the HPFP?

      • Hey Icarus which brand of software are you talking about?

In VW's, Stage II is with a downpipe. ECU only + HPFP is usually Stage I+ - unless you have some brand that I'm not familiar with...

        • I already had the stage I tune so the retune to stage II was free as you only pay for the cost of the fuel pump.

It's also my understanding that if I get the down pipe and CAI then this is considered stage II+.

          • You had Stage I, then you got the fuel pump and they need to adjust the tune to match, so that's Stage I+
Stage II requires a downpipe which you don't have. This is the case with the 3 major tune companies.

Sorry, again, I ask what brand you're talking about?

Hey mate for what it's worth, I started driving there, leaving my house at 5pm with my GF.. Had my helmet In the car and all.

At 6.48pm I was still on Parramatta rd. far out the traffic killed it. 2 hours was not enough!

So we ended up just turning off at parramatta and eating something at the cafe's there.

Next week I'll probably just go earlier (by myself). But I'm keen for sure.

Did anyone else actually go out? Corey I know this might be your last STG 1 day.. Any luck?

                • I managed to do 1 LC run before it rained and they had to cancel it... even without LC (so accelerating from idle revs, lol) I managed to beat a modified previous model Civic Type-R.
I don't have a camera to take a picture of the slip atm though, but with the temp being 30 degrees, humid, and overcast, I got a 13.617

It was the very 1st run I'd ever done, so I'm ok with that, but would have liked some more goes later in the evening if it hadn't rained.
I had issues with the LC. I'll have to experiment a bit more before I go back. But basically if you wait until your "staged" to turn on the LC, then the other car is taking off and you're still sitting there.
If you turn LC on during pre-staging, then rolling into staging was enough to stop me from being able to raise the revs (beyond idle).

Bro!! That's a fantastic time. I'm impressed, a 13.6 is awesome..! And it's only going to get better on a nice cool 15 degree night.

                      Congrats man. Happy for you.

                      • I should add that the staging/time to go from a green light etc is not counted against you on the casual nights. They only subtract time on pro meets.

But yep, another night, a cold night, and a couple more runs youcould see a 13.4..

                        • Yeah.... I know re the staging time... but still, I want to beat them to the damn line damn it! hehe
Yeah - it was very muggy tonight, I'd be sweating by the time I got my helmet off and rolled my sleeves up after the run.

Oh, and for those who were wondering, you can disable the LED DRL's on the R so that the drag officials don't get upset at you! (thanks Sammy125TDi !!)

                            • a) Start with the car off, lights off (0), indicators off etc. Turn the key to on (but don't turn on the engine). Pull the indicator stalk back (so high beams come on) and then push the indicator stalk down (left). Wait 3 seconds and it'll beep and the DRL's go off. Note that the "pull back" and then down is a single motion (i.e. so you end up pulling back and pushing down at the same time). To turn them back on, start again from scratch, but then push up (idicate right).
                              b) Nope. On the road back to the start they make you to 20km/h and turn off your headlights. They stopped me to tell me to turn off my fog lights, to which I responded they are DRL's. They were then "oh right, European car aye!. But then Sammy125TDi helped me out cause he figured why they had pulled me over! I guess it's so it's not a distraction to the guys currently doing their run or something.
