Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • I've wondered that too, but haven't had anyone confirm it...

I wonder whether Fab_R has it installed yet?
Btw... the creaking is the felt and rubber seals on the doors. Many people have treated this and so won't know whether the UB has made any difference anyway....

Not wanting a brace behind the rear seats I was thinking of getting the underbody unibrace only. Do you guys think this would be beneficial and enough bracing?
As corey asked, yes fab did get his installed the other day and I would suggest that fitting that brace would only be a benefit bro as others have said good things about it when fitted to the mkv gti's

      • I have the UB installed on my MkV GTI and it has made an improvement in stiffening up the chassis.

Was hoping people would say it's a benefit. Wasn't sure if it had to have the brace behind rear seats as well. I know people say that the brace behind the seat is quick to remove but I don't want to get caught out needing the space and the seats folded unexpectedly.

Sweet, so underbody brace is enough to stop the creaks. Better go order one then.

Fab_R, did you get someone to install it or did you do it yourself?

I'm thinking to get the black one. What colour have you guys fitted?

              • If you have access to a hoist, you can do it yourself. I got the Black one. You can't see it anyway once fitted.

Rob_R i had mine installed by Volkspower in Melbourne.

A couple of sections had to be notched out to clear the APR exhaust flanges.

                  I got the black btw...

Yeh you're right you don't get to see it. Maybe some people might want to look good underneath just in case it ends up up on it's roof. lol

I might contact them and see if they'd fit it for me also.

                              • A group buy would be a good idea. Might be a good idea to get Bruce to customise the UB for the MkVI Chassis specifically. I read somewhere that it doesn't fit 100%.
