I have an iPhone4 and I want to use it to listen to the songs I have on it....not to make calls

do I need a separate ipod cable thingo that connects it to it? i.e iphone specific cable for the MDI device or something?

Yes, if you're just using the USB socket to plug your iphone in it wont work. You need the proper iPhone cable from the dealer.

Corey, this is what is happening on mine. A cold start used to have the flap closed (confirmed by putting hand near each exhaust to feel the air moving and i posted many pages ago about only having one dirty exhaust for the first 1k kms), but now it has it open from a cold startup (and yes you can definetly hear difference).

Cold start my car is loud and gets comments from friends. Warm start it sounds quiet and normal.

So has anyone worked out how we can activate these? very cool and no other car I can think of has this level of light kink!

Would love to get them working - if we actually have the light running in there in Aus versions!

Yeah, I had a fiddle with VCDS last night on this too and I'm convinced it's not just a coding thing. I found a thread somewhere on another forum that talked about installing a Euro light switch and changing a bit of wiring as well, so it wouldn't surprise me if that eBay kit is essentially those bits you need. There's no clear setting in VCDS that will do it.

I tried this as well together with the service advisor at Barloworld and we couldn't get it to turn on. Perhaps it's just for show in the R.

Are there bulbs in there from the factory, or you had to put them in, and then try to get them working?

They had the tyre in the next day, so give them a go....I'm sure they could send it to Melbourne...

I don't know to be honest. Offsets for Golf's are typically around the 48 to 50 - but the width of the wheel also effects this. I don't recall a link to any reliable source which states what the standard offsets are for the Talladegas.

WEDS SA-55M in 19 x 8.0 specify an offset of +42 for the Mk6 R if that helps?

Yes. As of the MY12 cars, no more option for 3 door on the R.

Edit - and whilst they're not building MY12 cars yet, because of order lead times, it means you can no longer order a 3 door Golf R.

But for those that want to continue to conversation , my Urban Grey Subaru is now a collectors item because they have stopped producing that colour

UUUMMM argument over?? think not. better vehicle won out?? thems fightin' words. So it takes 20 minutes for an adult to get in the back seat, how cares! and when the door is opened it reaches across the road, not a problem! or there are no opening rear windows, who needs fresh air! the MOST compelling argument for two doors remains: The R looks better in two doors.

i have both. i have the one which can hook up to a USB (i.e plug one end to MDI, then it will allow you to insert a USB flash drive or anything of the like) and i have one which I can hook up DIRECTLY to the iphone. (i.e from MDI unit to iphone/ipod)

yet it says on my iphone that it is not recognised when i use the ipod/iphone connector?

maybe its nto compatible with iphones for listening to songs via the MDI? or is there another SPECIFIC DEDICATED cable for JUST the iphone? (because as you know, apple chargers are all universal for ipod an iphones)
