Well... the Golf aircon system defaults to fresh air. And if you "double click" the recircle button, it's fresh air until it detects pollutants, so it's even fresher than "fresh air"

Bringing back up the topicth of the "awful turning circle". I can quite comfortably to do a U-turn on a two lane road (single each way) with shoulders (wide enough for car parking). Similar to any other car I've owned previously.
Obviously I haven't got out the measuring tape to see what the exact diameter of that is, but it's good enough that I'm still wondering what people are talking about.
But then I had a quick look back and realised that only people with 19" Talladegas have mentioned the issue. So I'm wondering whether that is the cause of some peoples complaints? VW may have purposely limited the maximum steering to prevent rubbing. Just speculation though...

I agree. The turning circle on my R with 18" wheels seems the same as my old MkV Comfortline.Originally posted by Corey_R View PostBringing back up the topicth of the "awful turning circle". I find the turn circle with the 19" quite large too, not sure about the 18's on thhe R ... but it's definitely taking some getting used to. My old car was a liberty with 18's and that seems to do turns much more easily I find ( and it's a bigger car) .... though it could be caution ... and not wanting to scratch the front spoiler >_> 3 pt turn just safer sometimes lol

Cos there is just no need to be using it on a 25 degree or lower day let alone 20! Plus I'm trying to save the petrol from running the A/C compressor lolOriginally posted by Corey_R View PostI've no idea why you guys aren't using the aircon
Ditto!Originally posted by DDTW View PostI'm a sucker for fresh air
As for turning circle, I'm comparing it to my previous cars. S15 200SX and BAII/FG XR6T's both had no problems doing it anywhere without a Ken Block special. Even the old PoS Mazda 626 I still have to sell can turn in a tighter space than the R. Without question it has the worst turning circle of any car I've ever driven.
I know this will be an RTFM response...BUT hehe is that hitting auto and then recirc? Cos auto = a/c on?Originally posted by Corey_R View PostWell... the Golf aircon system defaults to fresh air. The A/C can be on without Auto being on...
But yeah, Auto, then two presses of the Recirc so that it's on "Auto Recirc". I've then set the temp to my preferred (which in my car is 24) and then leave it at that.
It'll then adjust how it needs, even to the point of it being so soft that it don't feel like any air is coming out! On days substantially below 24 it'll put warm dehumidified air into the cabin etc.
The only time I ever touch the system is on ultra hot days where I want to cool down quicker (if the car has been parked in the sun) is I'll press the Auto button again to put it into "Auto High" (right light) and I'll usually turn one of the vents so it's directed straight at me. Once the temp is under control I'll readjust the vent so the air goes around me and press the Auto button again so it's in "Auto Low" (left light).

Something I noticed for you iphone users out there...
The iphone 4 with the bumper case on wedges in snuggly between the tacho and speedo, covering the MFD. This is useful if you want to keep an app running. Say, lets pick a random app, like trapster
