Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It's on Corey's factsheet on 2nd price thread... But, take your word for it... And disagree, 5dr is better... I am a single guy without kids... Going for 5 door for aesthetics... And I like throwing work laptop bag on backseat... Easier with a door...

    • So it does, however, I don't believe it's correct. As has been noted, even the Polo has 4 window "one touch" up and down, so it'd seem crazy that it's being removed on higher models. I'll question that and see what comes back (but don't hold your breath, it usually takes a while to get a response from VAG).

      • Could it be a 3 door v 5 door thing?

At least more expensive versions of the Golf aren't as bad as some Porsche's, Ferrari's and Lamborghini's, for example (the light track day versions)

On that note, I recall Dean talking about the weight of the Golf R's wheels. Switching to a lighter wheel added 24 BHP and reduced lap times of wherever they were testing by an average 1 sec per lap.

Nope, not the way it's worded.
But re-reading the way it's worded again I think it's just a misunderstanding:
Power front / rear (5 Door), with roll-back function, driver with one-touch up-down
So it's not saying that only the driver's window has one-touch up-down. It's saying that only the driver's controls for the (2 or 4) windows have one touch up-down. Meaning that the individual control at the front passenger door, and rear passenger doors, don't have one-touch.
The statement in the specs is the same on all MK6 brochures that I have saved. So I don't think that there is any change here or mistake here (but I don't have a MK6 in my garage yet, so someone else will have to confirm).

All buttons for the driver are one-touch. The passenger button is one-touch. I haven't used the rears myself and so can't comment on those.

                  • No - I believe you. Your post said for both front windows, which we know, but the spec is talking about the controls, not the windows. Either way, the spec is wrong.

                        • Hey guys,

Just wondering if it is possible to fit the Recaro seats after the car has already been purchased.

My current situation: I dont see a current need for these sport seats, however I may change my mind down the track. Can I then take them to VW and get them fitted?

                          Thanks

                          • I believe this would void your insurance as you are removing the factory provided airbags and thus reducing the safety of your vehicle.

You would also have to install resistors in the wiring to stop the airbag fault showing up on the dash.

It probably could be done but i don't think it is worth it.
An independant service provider would probably be more likely to do it than VW would.

You cannot buy them afterwards anyway. There's a thread on the topic here.

You could source a set from a write off maybe????

No doubt some hero will push their's too far thinking that 4Mo = 100% control all the time and total an R (maybe an S3) with recaro's.
