Any supporting upgrades i.e. sticky tyres, weight reduction etc other than the 1/4 tank of fuel?
Almost sounds like trying to discredit him? Sticky tyres, its a bloody AWD lol? And I can't see someone ripping out the passenger seat for a G-tech run on a new car?

team_v Totally standard, no sticky tyres, no weight reduction - all stock set up other than the APR Stage 1 tune.
Also a cold Melbourne morning 5 deg....

Hey Dave- yea i knew it would happen....not fussed....AWD doesnt need any more help, it just hooks up, no wheel spin etc....
And yeah, im not going to use weight reduction measures...its my daily driver lol.
They are some impressive times FLM, must be a rocket ship! I'm not sure how often I'd be wanting to do launch control, but it definately gets the job done. I haven't tried it in my car yet as I have a fair bit of mechanical sympathy and I'll wait until I have a few more kms on it yet.
As always you'll have the doubters on here, but don't be deterred. I wouldn't worry too much about what other people think on an Internet forum, each time you mash the throttle you'll forget about it!

That is quite an effort then.
The cold morning's are great for power delivery, I have definitely noticed good performance out of my car.
Hopefully we can see Guy putting down some serious times in the Stage 3 R.

Yeah cheers iBoost it felt bloody fast as it was really the first time i have really floored it.
As for the doubters (if any) yes you get that.... they are here to disprove BS i guess.
The fact is that its the truth, and no BS is involved. I still cant get the grin off my face!
Buying a new Golf R - A Couple of Questions First...
Having been talked out of the 2006 911 Carerra S I fell in love with I had to find something 'more practical' .....I am after all getting rid of a Diesel Prado that has been the faithful family hauler.
So I drove the new R yesterday and loved it. I am 98% certain that I'll go ahead and order one (for an October\November 2010 delivery), I have a couple of questions before I commit though...
1. I've also looked at the Audi S3, and apart from the price and some different names for the options (eg S-Tronic vs. DSG etc.) I cant see too many differences. Am I right in this? There is close to a $15K premium on the Audi.
2. Is the ACC option worth it? My only experience with adjustable suspension was with a 1985 Ford Telstar (hey it was the Ghia model) I had @ Uni in the 90's and I was somewhat underwhelmed.
3. One thing the Audi has as an option is folding mirrors - is this available for the Golf?
I am looking at the following specs
- Volkswagen Golf R 5 Door DSG
- Rising Blue
- Talladega 19” Alloy Wheels (Black)
- Rear View Camera
- Satellite Navigation
- VW Enhanced Bluetooth
- Dynaudio
- Sunroof
Whilst I was quite impressed with the power and delivery, me being me, I know I'll be wanting to up the power etc. in the future. Has anyone had experience with the APR ECU upgrades with the new R?
