Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I certainly wasn't giving it 100% and I think I actually lifted before I got to 100kmh (the last 10kmh takes 1.2 seconds), I am fairly confident a hack like me will be able to get damn close to the claimed 5.7 thanks to the DSG (give me a bit more running in and I will give it a try with max rpm changes).
App is Dynolicious. I've heard nothing but good things from people who have compared it side by side with proper timing gear.

HPSOV, when you get to that point, of being able to give it 100%, I'd be interested to see what times you're able to get in manual mode vs S mode

        0-100 times

I did a couple of runs today in the Golf R using the G-Tech Pro SS.

As previously mentioned, the only thing done is the fabulous APR stage 1 remap.

Its just clicked over 1000'k so i didnt want to ring its neck.
But i basically short shifted in manual mode to 4500rpm and this resulted in the following 0-100 times.

        0-100

        1st run
        6.142

        2nd run
        6.010

I have no doubt whatsoever that a full "second" improvement can be made using sport mode (& launch control) for sure, even better perhaps once fully run in.

Yeah cool... considering you're not using launch control, max torque doesn't come in until 2400, and then you're manually short shifting at 4500 when max power doesn't hit until 6000, there's no doubt they'd still be another full second to gain

That is very cool! I'm excited, but will wait patiently for November, looks like some APR goodies may be on the shopping list!

Id have to see a video of this. Very quick for 4500rpm short changes. I think with a launch and full use of redline we might see in the 4's with just a tune.. which either is, or isnt, optimistic.

I hope that this is real even with the APR tune. Even though I have a bit of "I cant believe it" tone, I guess if it takes the car to 240kw 435nm, it could very well be possible..

But a video would give me something to drool over till October..

Either way nice times. APR might get a visit later in the year, especially If they can video up their test car or something..

Just got dynolicious and took my r32 for a run after calibrating. Not sure how accurate the results are. First run was 0-100km/h 6.3s, 2nd run said 5.18s! I know its fast but not sure its that fast! These runs were both using launch and in manual mode changing up when I could feel the power tappering off. I tried launching in 's' mode and redlining it but got about an 8 sec! It seem to run out of puff at the top so changing up manually seems to work better.

I've had a few runs that are clearly wrong, but when I did half a dozen runs in the wrx they all ended up within a few tenths of each other. Its really important to make sure the phone doesn't move, I attatched it to the flat surface infront of the gear lever with double sided tape. Any little shifting or vibration will stuff up the results. But yeh, at the end of the day its an iPhone app, when you compare the cost to real timing gear I dont expect it to be too great, but it should give an indication.

Yeah - some dude used his iPhone at the VW Advanced Driver training to tell everyone that the cars were doing 160mph (257kph) down the straight of Eastern Creek....
lol - I wish the R's were that quick!

There is no way you will get into the 4's with just the stage 1 remap.

If you want something close to that quick a BMW 135 with a chip will do sub 5 seconds.

That's what I was Implying. Ie that a car that mqnages 0-100 in 6 secs flat WITHOUT launch control, WITHOUT reving past 4500rpm and without the motor being that old either. Could lead to sub 5secs 0-100 when in form and properly extended. Which I don't though, think it is possible with just a tune.

And that is incredible if a 135 can do 4.something 0-100 with just a tune. Never been a fan of he car but they are a BMW at least and that motor is really good.
