Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

They're running stock Dunlop tyres that come with the R, so I believe they're 8" wide. Haven't noticed any rubbing, but I suppose I don't have it on full lock very often...

            • Could be my imagination but I swear she doesn't pull as hard in the hot weather.
Notice mainly in the 3rd gear drag onto the freeway. Doesn't seem to have same grunt above about 4000rpm.
              Temp today 32 degrees.
              Oil 92 degrees.
Fuel is 98 RON before anyone asks.
Anyone know if this real or just me?

This would be the case with all turbo cars.

                  • LOL. You reckon it's metal? Feels plasticky. If it's metal, it's aluminium, which shouldn't conduct heat well. That was probably their idea. Can you shift without getting 3rd degree burns or do you need a push in neutral?

An aircon vent in front of the knob would be nice. One in front of mine would be nice too.

Whatever it is. It's bloody hot.

It's the push down to select reverse which is the issue. You can do the grab and change easy enough.

For mine if you tick the box for the privilege of spending 2K for 4 inches and costly rubber for life cause it looks good my basic math equation is form/function
18s on the other hand are form and function

Don't confuse the statement with judgment it is what it is

It is called heat soak, as said before all cars get sluggish in hot weather, turbo charged cars more so. Be gentle especially if you have a tune, there was a good reason they detuned them for our climate.

The counterpoint to this is how well they perform in cool weather

I didn't need the extra 4 inches but ticked the box anyway and paid $1300 not $2k

                              • When it came the time to tick boxes, there are 2 that I am so glad I ticked. DSG and ACC (DCC) allow you to change the "drive" in so many ways.
