Black or Silver Rims / Wheels on Golf R?

I think you might find yourself in the minority. Not sure R owners are the "look at me" types and quite happy with its subtle looks. The letterbox bonnet and plastic wing brigade already have plenty to choose from (EVO/STI etc)

This is exactly why I'm buying an R. I had my WRX when I was younger, then went to the Liberty GT because it was more subtle. Subaru have obviously shot all their good stylists with the latest WRX (never pretty beasts to begin with) and Liberty, so time to invest in a Golf!

I paid USD 438 for 2 tyres plus USD 215 to ship via Fedex. So all up about USD 900 for a set of tyres and about USD 450 for the 2 shippments......Its simlpe to order, you receive a quote and just wire the money to Tire Racks account and then they ship the next day. Tyres arrived with a full warranty and clearance for customs. I was quoted $600 per tyre in Perth!

Amost the exact same boat Im in. had the WRX's, design went down, drove a GTI and was sold on VW's.

Loving the performance with genuine subtlety.

Then again nothing wrong with an MY11 STI on 19s, with a MASSIVE frount mount, white with Charcoal rims tinted hahaha

So at the moment, I have seen a lot of PHOTO's of the blue with black 19's.. Im not completely sold for some reason

Some shots they look terrific. Some they look crappy.. Could it be that they are too polsihed/shiny?

I think a matte charcoal (particularly) or matte black would look a ton better on the blue.

I am also thinking the black rims MIGHT look better in real life though. I have seen the 18 and 19's in silver.. and they were alright.. but on a white car.

Black rims I have seen looked best on UNITED and WHITE no question in my mind.

Its just that the black 19's flow well with the blackened headlights, but look an odd colour almost on other colours. (looks fantastic on overseas model RED R's!!)

Silver rims look better on blue, but then the side mirrors stand out..

Lol - yeah!
I was fairly lucky that I knew all the choiced I wanted to make, except for the wheels. So after my test drive, that was the only decision I had to make

It's a tough call, i've always been a fan of the dark rims on a blue car (hence my current ride) but as mentioned the black R rims don't seem that flash in some pictures but good in others, am yet to see them in the flesh though.

One other thing to consider, as i'm always very weary with my rims, is that if you ever, dare i say it, kerb the black rims, i'm sure it will stand out like dogs balls with the silver underneath showing through where with silver rims it may not be as noticeable.
