Had mine is yesterday and they've discovered some of the bolts in the engine mount have.... can't remember the word. Anyway, there's something wrong with the bolts and the engine is moving a tad, which would account for some 'shuddering' I guess. Gotta sort that one out before they look the transmission/clutches.

Took a while but the car is booked for a check next week. So I can expect to have the software update done first and then (if this wont work) to rebook for a clutch replacement.

Just picked ours up after two days at Wakelings in Campbelltown. All smooth at the moment. Will see how it goes over the next few weeks.
Now might be the time to upgrade to a GTI or Scirocco if I can convince the missus that 3 doors are enough

replacement clutch pack warranty
I was told by the VW dealer that repairs are covered by a +2 year warranty.Originally posted by hentaiboy View PostGuess I'll have to get an extended warranty now for when it fails again in 40K time
My car is almost out of warranty so this should protect me until the car is 5 years old.
They also mentioned at sometimes if there are know issues with a car the manufacture might cover half the repair cost even out of warranty.
Might need to read the fine print?

I'd like share important news addressed to members with problems
mentioned in this Thread: "Golf 118 TSI Comfortline 7 DSG harsh shudder 2nd gear"
"In mid of December, Volkswagen is preparing a formal decision on this issue".
Very likely that VW will upgrade ECU (mechatronic's software) of DSG 7 to resolve "harsh shudder 2nd gear".
One of Russian owner of VW Passat has talk with own dealer and his dealer shared this information.
Please take a look at source (Google translated):
So, yesterday I visited the dealer about our common problems with you. We are the master-receiver of a ride, the problem was certainly noticeable, but as luck is not so clear as usual) So he took the car. After 4 hours, and says that otzvanivaetsya update the software on the box, but still twitching. He said that he sent a request to the factory and got Next> answer: take no action until mid-December. Allegedly by mid-December to find a solution to this problem and will be something of a callable type company. In his opinion it is most likely a bug in the clutch control, which is likely going to fix software. I do not know in general, but waiting for mid-December and call them again), the Master said that they have fixed my request and that as soon as it will be clear soon callback.
So I have not changed the clutch (well, okay, wait.
Now in Russia all owners of DSG 7 wait for mid of December.
I hope this information will be useful.Last edited by UKV; 15-11-2011, 09:36 PM.

Can you guys please take further discussion on the warranty into there. Cheers

The PDS that I go along with the price is titled "Volkswagen New Vehicle Extended Warranty - Policy Document" - not sure about dealer warranty but I think this is the VW backed one for the $1438.90.

Be careful with vw extended warranty. I've had quotes for down as low as $1295 for allianz backed extended warranty from vw dealers. Unfortunately on receiving the pds, these were dealer extended warranties backed by allianz and not the official vw extended warranty backed by allianz.

I ended up being contacted by Dee D ickson (Deed ickson@inchcape.com.au_without the space after the d, it gets * if I don't put the space in) Who has been really helpful. The best price they can do is $1438.90. This is by far more reasonable than what VW Wangara were able to do ($1850).

Yup I'm in the same bout. Will have to get rid of it before extended warranty runs out though.Originally posted by hentaiboy View PostMissus reports car now drives "like a normal automatic" after the clutch pack replacement.
Guess I'll have to get an extended warranty now for when it fails again in 40K time

Missus reports car now drives "like a normal automatic" after the clutch pack replacement.
FYI the parts replaced were:
VW0AM198141L REP.KIT
VW07C133588C GROMMET
Guess I'll have to get an extended warranty now for when it fails again in 40K time

When I picked up my car the reversing camera wasn't working. The dealer couldn't get it working so the car was hooked up to the VW network and a techie in Germany ended up fixing it. Our cars seem to be computers on wheels these days.Originally posted by Bel View Post"What we need to do is actually get you back in before I can replace the clutch packs as we need a diagnostic log and technical logs with tech in Sydney."
Has this happened to anyone else and what the heck have Sydney got that the WA dealers haven't when it comes to disgnostics?
