I saw a black one from about 50m away yesterday, looked good, although I do wonder what a black with black 19s and the black lights would look like... very nice I suspect (if you haven't yet made the mistake of buying a black car once in your life
)

Golf R - Optional Motosport front seats
Hi,
Has anyone specified these yet? What are they like? Are they heated? are they worth the extra $4K?
Thoughts please?
Also, anyone in Brisbane got them so I can have a sneaky peak as no dealer has them?MY10 R, DSG, Recaros, ACC, Dynaudio, MDI, Stage 2 APR, CAI, APR HPFP

I could be wrong, but I thought they weren't heated? No side airbags either... still, they do look awesome and if you were going on the track, would have to be worth it. Also, I think they're only about 2k more than standard leather, but that's about 5.5k over standard cloth (plus LCT most likely).
Having said that, the standard leather ones are insanely comfortable! I seriously sit at my desk at work and wish the seat I was in was half as comfortable as the ones the R. I'm 6'3" and have very broad shoulders and they fit like a glove. Oh, and seat heating, awesome

I've merged the thread here since this is where all the questions about the R specs and prices are.Originally posted by Rickardo View PostHi,

If you search this thread for Recaro, Recaros, and Motorsports you'll find lots of responses.
Yes, they are heated. They lose the side airbags, but as they're very heavily bolstered, the side airbags shouldn't be needed anyway (well, that's the theory... though harnesses are illegal on the roads, so who knows how well you'll actually stay in the seat). They're not $4k in the R. They're $5,300 PLUS LCT, so about $7400 if that's applicable.
Are they any good? That's a personal thing. Some people would say yes, some people would say no. You'll just have to go and sit in both and decide for yourself

If they're the same as the ones in the Audi S3,then they're not heated and no airbags.
Great seats though.

On the verge of ordering my R and the Recaros were the dilema (ok colour is still a dilema!) for me, they look cool but at the end of the day I dont find those seats as comfortable as the normal leather seats and airbags are good
My wifes theory was, you dont need them, youve got Recaros in your MkII! Worst logic ever!!!
On a side note, the cloth seats on the R are horrible IMO
