I agree, the 370Z looks better than an R. Particularly in those shots provided, that Z looks great!

The R is a better car though as a package, style, build quality, brand etc. AWD is pretty good too. Whilst all being understated.

But you cant say your not biased, as you have a GTI not an R In saying that, it's your opinion, which like mine, is valued and just a personal feeling.

I believe people find it easier to say whatever suits them better at the time. For instance, on WRX forums you will always ahve WRX onwers dis the point of getting an STI, and how for that sort of money they would have gone upmarket.. etc. But the point is, they dont have the money, and they didnt go upmarket, which makes the argument.. opinion.

I'm looking at those 370z photos again and i have to say it sure does look good ay hahaha maybe i should buy one.

I don't rate the 350 or 370Z.. Just plastic crappy interior and the 350Z isn't that fast, would be marginally more than an R32 and also N/A.

Also, Robby_jai test drove one and did a review on golfmkv.com, and wouldn't trade an R32 for one.

Agree a coupe will look sportier and more expensive. But it's about the whole package as far as I'm concerned, not just image like people that drive around with R'n'B playing and lots of gold chains.

But what I am saying is if you ask anyone on the street what looks better a 350z or a red mk5 Gti (which has shocking interior might i add like the 350z) i guarantee you anyone who does not own a vw or nissan will say the 350z COREYING. But like you say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

They are just two different cars, one is a 70k hatchback and another is a 70k coupe. They are both great cars, but like i said in my opinion the 370Z is much nicer for that amount of money (although the s3 hands down on both )

In regards to the times you posted i'm not sure where you found that as its (370z)been tested at 0-62-mph at 4.6seconds which is a whole second faster than a manual Golf R .

But its probably really low 4's or early 5's. Just like the golf is probably late 5's, early 6's.

I went with black Euro's.

Being black, they blend in well even though the front plate is smaller than on the white Euro (ie it wont fill the plastic frame).

The white is too big and ugly IMO. Go the black Euro - on the grey it'll be awesome.

Send the pic this way too if you can, I want the black plates as well but can't think of a good personalised combo. Wish they'd let you choose black for the next available combo like they do on white.

I can see youre probably a Jap hater but a 350z ugly come on ? Its better looking than any golf and quicker than any golf. The 370z for looks not sure :S but 350z definetly a sweet car .

The point I'm jsut trying to make is that no one sensible would say a golf looks "hotter" than a 350z which is what Dave is saying.

Well, then you're definitely wrong because of the 4 people still left in the office with me, 2 said the red MKV GTI and 2 said the 350Z (98 commodore, 2002 mx5, 2005 subaru liberty, 96 c class merc, is what they drive).

This is the first Golf I've ever owned. Before I bought it (three weeks ago), I can tell you that I preferred the MK5 to the 350 or the 370 in looks hands down. I think the 350/370 is brutally ugly.

Guys, finalised ordering my Golf R today from Dermot @ Wangara Volkswagen. Must say very happy with the service Dermot provided and extremely happy with the price he arranged for me, ending up ordering a Rising Blue 5dr DSG with 19" silver Talladegas, Vienna Leather and almost all other options except RVC.

Am now patiently waiting for November! I recommend having a chat to Dermot if you're keen to order an 'R'

Old news perhaps but I can tell you that I have just taken delivery of my new R today.
The car was secured with a deposit 2 months ago and i was able to get the specs i wanted.
From the start i was upfront with the dealer principal as to what i wanted and in return he told me what sort of margin he was happy with.
End result, I got a dealer discount plus coroporate which wasn't bad at all. He's happy and so am i!!
Have been out all afternoon in it and am absolutly chuffed .........what a joy to drive!

Is anyone going to do better than full RRP?

I know these are new and demand will be OK, but any competition between dealers just to do the business? I know dealers will say "we don't need to discount because we can just to the next person at full RRP", but surely a definite sale today is better than hoping someone calls tomorrow?

Good to hear that people are starting to take orders of the R!

I'm one of those 'fools' who put a deposit down for an R last December. I signed a contract so that I could take advantage of the government tax break (about $8000 tax credit).

Anyway, will be picking up 5dr DSG stock next Friday. I would have loved the blue but only silver is available However, did get close to 10% discount (not quite as much as when I bought MKV gti) so am pretty happy with the added bonus of 50% tax break and GST off ect.

Having had GTI which at one stage was APR stage II, i'm really looking forward to being able to put all that power down to the ground. And unlike some, I really don't like wheel spins! However I do find the new MKVI gtis a much more sporty looking car esp with those 18s.

In regards to 370z, I went for a test drive late last year and didn't really like the rough manual transmission. I however thought the interior was miles better than 350z. And it sure is plenty fast! In the end it was going to be too expensive for me with it being over 70k. I know that the R has less standard equipments than 370z but at least I can afford one with it being in low 50s in stock form!

Will post up some pics when I get the car!
