Hey guys, just got off the phone with Phil Fairhall from Gerald Slaven Volkswagen, Belconnen, ACT. Just put down a deposit on the Grey 3dr, DSG Recaro's with ACC. Gave me a killer deal on the car, anyone interested in getting a good deal on an R straight away give him a call. Gave me an excellent deal, and when I say excellent. Blew away the discount that I received in Sydney. So happy, finally found a 3dr. Now all I have to decide if I want euro or premium plates and what colour. I'm leaning towards the white euro's.

Anything near 5% or above on ordered cars is great. Congrats ganis5.
As much as I like that combination above in white on the R, I cant help but feel it does look quite bland compared with the GTI.
ps. The white / black wheels combo would most likely be my choice if I had an R on order.

Mate I didn't get an order the car is in stock. One of the only 3drs I could find in the country. Its the one in White James' photos. WHITE JAMES: Suspension & Wheel Reviews - Page 13 - VW GTI Forum / VW Rabbit Forum / VW R32 Forum / VW Golf Forum - Golfmkv.com
The grey one next to the GTI, Any idea on plates?2010 Golf R 3dr, United Grey, DSG, Recaro's , ACC, APR stage 1

If you go anything other than the original white/blue fullsized Euro plate in NSW, it won't fit the front plate holder properly.
Also, they've changed the retention places on the R's holder, so you can't do the "plug trick" like you could on the GTI (well you can, but you'll have 2 vertically in line plugs on each side of the plate... can't really disguise that as park sensors!)

I went with black Euro's.
Being black, they blend in well even though the front plate is smaller than on the white Euro (ie it wont fill the plastic frame).
The white is too big and ugly IMO. Go the black Euro - on the grey it'll be awesome.
I'll PM you a picture of mine.Last edited by elisiX; 17-06-2010, 04:12 PM.2019 BMW M3 CS

That makes sense, they're all ugly LOL
I can see youre probably a Jap hater but a 350z ugly come on ? Its better looking than any golf and quicker than any golf. The 370z for looks not sure :S but 350z definetly a sweet car .

I have never liked the 350z really, the 370z is an improvement though. I am a massive fan of the S15 200sx, and had a heavily modified one.
I actually sat in a 350z the other day at a car dealer while I was waiting for someone and couldn't believe how poor the interior was after driving there in my new GTI. It was hopeless for a $70k car. No thanks...

While this is a 370 which you could have bought 75k drive away .
Now before you say im biased etc I own a golf so if i was biased I would say the Golf R is better. DOnt get me wrong the Golf R is a nice car and all but for 70k the 370 (although i think the 350 is nicer) is better looking, faster and overall a much better car. The only thing the Golf R has over the 370z is your speced up recaro sports seats. Plus the 370z is a coupe not a hatchback so I'm sure if youre seeking attention more birds will smile at you if your in a Z rather than a golf.Last edited by flynhigh2007; 17-06-2010, 06:41 PM.

The point I'm jsut trying to make is that no one sensible would say a golf looks "hotter" than a 350z which is what Dave is saying.

I agree, the 370Z looks better than an R. Particularly in those shots provided, that Z looks great!
The R is a better car though as a package, style, build quality, brand etc. AWD is pretty good too. Whilst all being understated.
But you cant say your not biased, as you have a GTI not an RIn saying that, it's your opinion, which like mine, is valued and just a personal feeling.
I believe people find it easier to say whatever suits them better at the time. For instance, on WRX forums you will always ahve WRX onwers dis the point of getting an STI, and how for that sort of money they would have gone upmarket.. etc. But the point is, they dont have the money, and they didnt go upmarket, which makes the argument.. opinion.2010 MY11 GOLF R - 5DR | DSG | RISING BLUE | DYNAUDIO + ACC + BLUETOOTH + 19s + RNS510 |
