Wow...wish I'd read this thread earlier. Just paid $650 for the first service at Barlow VW, Mascot. It was totally routine with no special issues. For future reference, does anyone have an idea as to the best quotes for scheduled servicing within 30km of Sydney?

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.

Hi, I'm just in the process of buying a manual demo MkVI 118TSI with about 650km on the clock.
Regarding servicing I have emailed
Barlowworld, Mascot and they advised me for the 15,000km/12 month service for the 118TSI the standard charge is $425.
For Chatswood Classic Cars I was informed cost for servicing would be:-
Minor Service 15,000kms/12 months Approx $430
Intermediate 30,000kms/12 months Approx $590
Minor Service 45,000kms/12 months Approx $480
Major Service 60,000kms/12 months Approx $1,000 (ouch)

For the people in Melbourne, just goto Volkwerke in Greensborough. My 15k was about $280 and that included using LiquiMoly oil which cost me about $60-70 alone when I did an intermediate service myself.
No way I'd go back to the clowns at the dealership and pay top shelf pricing for monkey labour effort.

I just had my 15,000 km service and it was $330 at Gary Cricks which for out in the boon docks in ok... again nothing special but they are offering extended warranty if you go through the dealer for 6 years or 150,000 kms if I go to another dealer or authorised VW mechanic that warranty is void.

One incentive I can think of is that it would make VW even more competitive with other car makers who already offer this service. Especially now since their current objective is to be the number one car company, offering this would certainly get more potential car (even fleet) buyers through the door, not to mention the more number of people who would bring their cars back to them for service..captain courteous enjoys vag

Are you all getting the online surveys to fill out 'post service'? Had the GTI in for another warranty item and have gladly filled out the survey to, hopefully, have a better at chosen dealerships.MK6 MY10 Golf GTI, 5dr Manual, Carbon Steel, Detroits, Tint

I don't ever remember paying over $400 for a minor service, and my car has always been washed after the service. Free shuttle to the CBD too. My VW is brand new so I've never had it serviced (obviously), but do VW dealers wash cars too?
