contacted volkswagen australia, who told me that there was nothing they could do except log my complaint about the dealer in their system.

long story short - if you're not happy with your dealer service, volkswagen australia arent interested either. very glad i read this forum and found out about prestige and performance in coorparoo!
Thats pretty bad...im sure Austral have come up before about being not so good!

I think it would be great if you could also place reviews of such busineses on Google, etc. so that it comes up in a search. I hate to let business with such conduct get away with things.

Same experience with VWA here, not sure why they even bother with the "support" area.

Anyone in sydney go to some other place to get their car serviced other than VW?

I know of Exoticars and Ramspeed who do servicing, as well as Camden GTI?

ANy reason why you guys are going straight back to VW and not VW/Audi authorised repairers?

Prolly cause they intend to sell their cars within 3 years, and therefore they'd just rather pay for the "dealers stamp" in the log books. Cause non-ethusiasts have no idea who Exoticars, European Autotech, Camden GTI etc are...

              hi guys,

just wondering how many of you have taken your car back for a check up prior to 15000km?
or had your oil changed prior to the 15000km service, and how much did it cost to do so.

Struggle with this question as well.

                Under warranty comes to mind.

I suppose we could get it serviced at Exoticars, European Autotech, Camden GTI etc. Ask them to flag out warranty issues that we should go back to official dealers to get fixed.

I use VW Village in Kensington and that's what happens there, any warranty issues are identified and I go back to the dealer for those items only.

It was not only the cost of servicing which made me shy away from the dealer, but also the attitude of the staff. Just their response to the turbo rattle, was almost enough to turn me off VWs permanently (untill I got back in the GTI and drove it...anyway ).

I Guess, getting a DSG GTI serviced would be more expensive compared to a Manual GTI?

From what I've been told, it's only an engine oil/filter change along with a 'safety check'.

Not sure if the DSG box requires anything more??

Dealer servicing will be seen as a plus if you ever have to get VAG goodwill repairs after warranty ends

I have been told by the dealer the service will be around $380, no matter what transmission is.

Just thought I would share a recent experience at Austral Volkswagen in Newstead, Brisbane.
Long story short - for their $412 15,000km service turns out they never changed/filled/topped up the oil. found out when i got an oil level warning light a couple of weekends ago.

the single most important thing these guys do in a service, they didnt. How do you know they didn't change the oil or are you speculating that they didn't because 6 months/3.500 KM after the service it was 1.5 litres below full? It does seem to be a fair bit of oil for 3,500 KMs but some VW engines do burn a bit early in life.

Remember, VGA don't have control of the day to day operations of their dealers, they have no authority to force a dealer to do anything in such a case, logging the complaint would certainly result in VGA's dealer rep discussing the negative feedback with the dealer at some stage. Your issue is with the dealer, not VGA.
