15,000km Service Cost from Each Dealer Outlined

Wow...wish I'd read this thread earlier. Just paid $650 for the first service at Barlow VW, Mascot. It was totally routine with no special issues. For future reference, does anyone have an idea as to the best quotes for scheduled servicing within 30km of Sydney?

I just got a quote from Paul Wakelings of Campbelltown, $383 and a courtesy car if you give a couple of weeks notice.
Its more than 30km, but you can make a day of it, take the courtesy car for a spin to the southern highlands!!

Or you could go to Camden GTI and get the 15,000km service for $240 , but i'd advise you to take your own oil like Shell ultra 504/507
or the equivalent

Yep, have to admit $383 is a rip off...................does the $240 at Camden GTI include the oil and filter or not ?

On a slight tangent, is the VW factory warranty voided if you do your own 15,000km oil + filter change vs. getting it serviced at a dealer?

Yes it does but, last time i was there he didn't have the 504/507,and was using another oil ,
So if you take your own oil he will deduct what he pays for his oil .

The service book has to be stamped by a service centre,or you will void the warranty. you can get the car serviced anywhere as long as its an aproved service centre and there licensed.

not sure if I should take it to an independant in Sydney? (can camden GTI flash the DSG with the latest s/ware etc? someone mentioned a DSG software upgrade was out? ) or VW... or if anyone else can reccomend a VW specialist?

Nothing major about it. Same as the 15,000km - oil/filter plus pollen filter change isn't it? From memory mine cost just over $300.

No, but they are a licensed motor vehicle repairer, with licensed technicians. As far as VW is concerned, that's as legit as it gets.

What about the DSG update. Will these independent VW/Euro specialists have access to it?

I doubt it. Not sure why VW would give their competitors access to their systems. They want you to come to them.

I personally hope that my R never sees the inside of a dealers workshop because if it does it means that warranty work was required.

I like to speak direct to the mechanic, not to a desk jockey.

Hey guys,
I had my 15,000 km service at Paul Wakelings this past weekend.
I was advised there was no DSG software update.
Driving the car feels pretty much the same as before
