  • What's the average age of a new Golf buyer/owner...?

So, I was just wondering...what is the average age of people buying or owning a new Golf these days...?
Be it a GTI, TDI or what ever...
Are you all young business type guys, or are there any old farts like me, who at 50, just needed something new and fresh...

I'm calling it my "middle aged binge"...not really that into Harleys.....and fast cars have always been in my blood....
I'm kinda lucky in a way I guess, I have no mortgage over my head, and I'm still single, with no family attachments to slow me down...

It is almost entirely 40-something women.

    I love my chicks car.

      I'm 26, professional, buying a new GTI.

A bit younger than most I would guess, but I've always liked the GTI and I've had the typical fully sick cars already in my younger years. Bit over the negative attention they get from Police, high insurance premiums etc.

The GTI is a bit more stealth and classy imo.

Wheels magazine said that the average age of a GTI owner is 39, young male, married proffesional type.

        I am male, 25 single, professional. 50% right =)
Life is a journey... enjoy the ride!

Interesting figures. Might be slightly different in WA I guess but a bit different to what I was expecting.
Do you know if VW are hitting their target audiences with those figures? It would explain a lot

                31, male, professional.

I did read (in a VW Australia magazine I think it was) that the average GTI customer is between 39 and 49, male, married with no kids, and the GTI is not their only car.

                    Too true...
Having been in a WRX the last 4 years, I've dispensed with more cash towards premiums than I care to think about...
Got a nice surprise when gathering insurance quotes for the GTI, insured for 20k more value, and premium is several hundred less.
And yes, as a WRX driver I had my share of sideways glances from patrol cars...
The GTI will be a huge step up for me...and I agree, very classy too.

                        mid 30s unproffesional family type.
Since my teens I've never owned anthing without a turbo on it (although not all were fast) - and not about to start now.

I've had AWD, RWD, 1WD - time to go to the dark side and buy a bum dragger and see if I can deal with understeer.
                        Its here!

Yeah - I read this too!

I wonder what the average R32 customer is.
Cause that may help us understand why VW are taking the INSANE option of not bringing a 3 door.
