What's the average age of a new Golf buyer/owner...?
The "professional" demographic doesn't surprise me after several months perusing this forum. Most people can actually form coherent sentences and know that "grammar" isn't that old lady what raised them after Dad went to prison and Mum hit the bottle. Certainly a refreshing change from the news.com.au comments section.

Early 40's very unprofessional , married with a tribe of kids . . . . that have left home . . . my "mid life crisis" car . . . well actually its my "wifes" car.
Married,
seventh Golf ... first GTI (not red... my argument that I am not in middle age crisis)
age 50 (fortunately this thread started today and not in few weeks time)
I don't think that I am professional comparing with other professionals here ... their posts are coming during "normal professional" - working hrs. ... and I am not in that stage of professionalism that I can do it (to busy)
Average owner profile in the dark ages (Western Australia) for GTI is:

Average owner profile in the dark ages (Western Australia) for Non GTI Golf is:

Looks like I have a very average daughter.
My daughter has a Mk VI TDI Silver Reflex. 30 Female, Professional, runs her own business employing 10. Image Conscious - "I look good in a Golf" and "Order has been restored to the company car park". Price sensitive - set a budget of $40K and went looking/bargaining etc. Came down to a choice between Accord Euro Luxury (heavily discounted) and the Golf she decided was a better drive.
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.
I'm 25, male, professional. In regards to the GTI, its appeal for our 'younger' age bracket stems from performance and quality coupled with value for money. After considering the Audi A3 and BMW 1 series I couldn't justify the significant price hike for those marques when the GTI is as good as it is for 10 to 15k less. It is also less of a statement - to my friends who don't know any better it's just another golf. To those that do understand the GTI badge, they're always after a test drive!
