What's the average age of a new Golf buyer/owner...?
I'm 52 and am an amateur! I'm waiting for my new GTI but currently have my MINI Cooper S and Honda CB954RR fireblade to play with...Oh as well as my PS3! I'm not old- just born early.

Mmmm. well.. I'm a Non GTI Golf owner in WA, so from the above I must be a younger women, but I'm not. I'm in the first category (i.e. 35 - 55, Male, Professional) however I do not have a GTI.. Ooooops. maybe I should've bought one.. Oh, that's right, I didn't have enough money. Does that mean I'm not as professional as I think I am..

23, new GTI, semi-professional.
Whilst I'll always have a soft spot for sporty Japanese cars (Lancer Evo's, STI's, 350z's, S2000 etc), the Golf is far more pleasant in almost every respect whilst not attracting unwanted attention or insurance premiums.
The 118TSI is my wife's. She is a 49 yo professional. I will not tell her she is too old to have a Golf, lest I lose a couple of things I am very attached to.
I'm 44 ,married,2 teenagers in the house ,unprofessional my job reminds me of Homer Simpson ,and I managed to get 11K off retail on a GTi .
The wife and I thought we would down size lower our carbon foot print .
Cheers

Those whose parents bought the car for them aren't eligible in the tally.
Although, he could be a 22 year old with lots of cash (ergo can afford a new GTI) and has worked very hard ever since leaving high school at (say) age 15, at end of school Year 10, and has squirreled his money away just for this day. We should all keep an open mind!
That said, good point G-rig, people posting here probably should qualify their position if their new Golf was (or is being) purchased for them by others, e.g. parent's, great friends, etc, otherwise the stats may get a bit skew'eee.
Oh, also, the young'ins out there on this thread with new GTI's could also just have good credit rating and be happy with a big debt for a nice car. Although this would not be my idea of good money management (my opinion only), the best part of living in a free society is most are free to do as they please, as long as they don't contribute to the next GFC!

Reason: typo
30, not professional, single, no kids, this will be my first brand new car (a GTI) have always brought 2nd hand in the past, but thought I'ld spoil myself this time.
Those whos parents bought the car for them are ineligable in the tally.
and we should also exclude all those whose parents have contributed to their education, food, clothing, upbringing etc.
If I want a GTI, what's wrong with convincing my wife that my son needs a GTI as part of his automotive education.
And what better illustration of father/son or daughter bonding than providing them with a GTI that you need to drive every so often (or every so very often) just to see that your children have not taught the DSG bad habits.
Actually, I am astounded that my wife has never ridden HER CBR 600 Honda. Maybe it was the macho leathers which I ordered in the wrong size (and they just happen to fit me perfectly) whch have discouraged her.
After all, this site is for the VW family/community, is it not?
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.
