Heh - I'm not at all trying to be a Killjoy. It's just that there are way too many people who read this stuff and actualyl believe the dealer can tell them when the car will arrive. The only confirmation the dealer can give you is the estimation which is in the NADCON ETA Data!!! ETA = Estimated Time of Arrival.

Yes... but you're not the one who ends up needing the moderator threads, issue infractions, and pull people into line after they've got all emotional that their car hasn't arrived when it was "confirmed". It's not like I'm paid to do this, so I'd prefer to correct things straight away than have to deal with time consuming issues later

(I'm not say that this is how things would have ended up with Racer88, just saying that it has a few times before and I'd prefer to not see it again...)

Ordered a MY11 Golf 90TSI today. Rather than waiting for the Polo 77TSI on order (ETA Jan-11) I've decided to switch to a Golf. Will pick it up later this month...can't wait!

Anyone have an idea of the proposed BUILD schedule date and potential DELIVERY date for a 2011 Mk6 GTI.
An order placed now may indicate a 2010 build only.

Hi johnvw.
I think that you're slightly confused in what you're asking.
A "2011 Build" will occur from Jan 1 2011.
A "MY11" (as in Model Year 2011 specifications) commenced from June this year. Therefore, any Golfs ordered or built now will be a MY11 with 2010 Build Date.
And since it was June that MY11 commenced production, all Golfs coming off the boats now are MY11...

I don't recall which thread it was in, but can you clarify the info on build date/compliance/registration. Given a lot of us are getting cars very late in the year, what was the general concensus on having any of the above dates late 2010 instead of early 2011?

UPDATE!
My Golf MkVI 118TSI apparently hit Port Kembla 2 days earlier than estimated i.e. on 3 October. If true I should see it in my hands 2 days earlier i.e. 18 October 2010. Fingers crossed.

My Car is Built!!! Finally received my Vin and Engine numbers today.

Anyone know how long it generally takes before it gets allocated to a vessel so i can start tracking it?

VIN and Engine numbers are supplied at "Checkpoint 8 Handover to Sales". It's actually an addition 6 to 7 days before it "Exit Production Plat", a further 5 or so days before it reaches "Arrival Port of Shipment" and can be 8 days or more before it will "Departure Port of Shipment". It is after this that it shows up on the tracking site.

So, from the time when the VIN is available, it can take 3 weeks to a month before it'll appear on the vessel tracking site!

My order was placed at the beginning of July, but my car was taken from one that the dealer had already entered into the system way back in May for floor stock. Original ETA was Nov 30th.
