I've looked in the center console, no sign of it...

Ok... I guess the question that I should really ask from R drivers:

"When going over (slightly) bumpy roads or hit an uneven surface, is the cabin noise free or you hear door/centre console/dash rattles?"

      • I had a number of rattles in my R coming from the door trims/pillars etc. Nothing around the seats or centre console. These got mostly sorted out after leaving the car with the dealer.

I found more right foot or audio hides it

        • Reading other threads, it seems the door seals squeaks and rattles are a common problem... Might require a trip to the stealership.

Isn't there some some sort of a product/lubricant that can be applied to the seals to fix/reduce these squeaks?

          • Yeah the dealer should do it. I had quite a few squeaks reversing out of my driveway before but after the rattle fixes and whatever else they did, haven't noticed it as much.

            • If it is the door seals, the reason it's occuring is because of the car wash, polish, or wax being used has got into the door jams and onto the seals. It's a common "issue" with VAG cars.

It can be resolved with Gumme Pfledge, as per the http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f112...ing-41289.html thread which I linked to in post #3

Also, if this started after you took delivery of the car, you should look at the wash products and process you use. Even if you've had no issues with previous cars.

Bought all new products when I got the car. Using the MINT car wash and Nanolex'd my car back in February.

Are you saying the Nanolex coated the seals and that's what causing the squeaks?

                • So I did a little test. Pressed on the door frame and low and behold, the Sonofa@&$); started squeaking.

I cleaned the seals using isopropyl alcohol, cleaned the door frame, cleaned the felt seal
While it was wet it was ok.. Now that's it's dry it's same *****.

Thanks Corey, I was reading this thread today and it's how I got the idea to try pushing on the door frames to replicate the noise.

I'll give that Pflege a go and if it doesn't work I'm going back to VW to see what they say...

                      • Further investigation results:

It seems that the rubber seal(s) is not the culprit of the issue; its the felt seal found around the top of the door frame.
The test to prove this is to wet the felt seal with water and close the car door.
Then press onto the top frame of the door and you won't hear any squeaks.

As soon as the felt dries, the squeaks are back in action...

I'm still deciding on whether to use the Gummi Pfledge on the felt or look for an alternative.

Another thing I did (yes, I might've looked like the shady person trying to break into cars) was to go around the car park at work and try the same test on the two GTi's that are parked there (its ok, I know the owners)... Both these cars produce the same noise, however their owners have never heard the sounds...

That just means they are not as picky as me

                          • I have used the Gummi Pfledge several times now and it does remove the noise after each application. Unfortunately it is not a permanent cure, the squeaks will come back and I have to reapply. I have used it on the felt w/o any issues.

                            • B pillar noise and door rattling...

i have the 2 door gti...
first i could hear the rattling on drivers side..near the door..
then i hear another tick tick tick noise..even when i turned off the car..
so i traced the noise, and it seems to be coming from the plastic b piller...when u press against it..it makes little BUT annoying tick tick tick noise...

are these the problems everyone is experiencing?

                              • i have noticed alot of ppl use Gummi pflege to remove the noise.
is that for the bpillar noise or the rattle from the door hinges?

i've read through the entire post, keeps mentioning applying on rubber seals..? can someone post a pic? that would help...
because my door doesn't have seal?
it's just the metal door hinges....and where do u apply on the bpilllar?
