Took to the damage with some Menzerna IP just to see what damage is really there underneath the silver paint from the other car

Bumper has dropped a few mm, scuffing and tear in bumper and edge where it meets the q panel is rubbed to the base

Bottom edge of Q panel is folded in slightly and some paint off.

Could be lucky here with a new bumper, some gentle work to pull the edge of Q panel out and a touch up.

Got almost all the marks out of the rim, probably not worth replacing. Tyre is shot (torn sidewall).
Fingers crossed the repair shop will find the repair relatively straight forward. As long as there isn't any hidden damage underneath it all. Seen in the past repairs body wise is good but paint matching a little suss. Colour matching and blending has come a long way and fortunately your colour isn't metalic or pearl. I reckon you'll be fine in the end.

It's the fact it's happened and it won't be in it's virginal state seems to sit in the back of your mind even though you won't see the difference when repaired.
Golf R, Rising Blue, 5 Door, DSG and some extra fruit.

                  You too mate

Just think, we will both have extra thick paint now

Plus the repairers will well and truly clean all the cobwebs out by thrashing the cars before we get them back

I did hook up my ScanGauge and hid it under the dash. At least I'll have a log of how much they thrashed it

                    • Not much I can do mate but go with the flow.

Just took me a day to realise it.

Didn't help having the other driver playing silly games.

                      • I know this should probably go in another thread but can you guys recommend any performance enhancements for my 118 TSI?

                        • Bumper will now be repaired, not replaced.

                          Insurance companies suck.

My R is tainted, I'm going to tune it and drive it hard

                          • the damage doesn't look like it justify replacing, just some adjustment and repaint.

I had my panels replaced from an accident before, it still needs reprinting so if you're hoping to get away with color matching issues it won't make any difference having it replaced.

                            • The bumper needs liquid plastic repair

Ground down beyond the base fill on the edge plus gouging

Currently that has a 5 yr life

                              Replace please
