  • Well it had to happen eventually, got my first scratches on the R today I can't believe it, a double whammy! The first was from a bloody carpark gutter. Thought I was just far enough away but it scratched the underside of the front spoiler on the both corners. That I can live with as you can't see them and I did it myself. The one that is annoying is the scratch on the top side of the left passenger door. Two little 1/2 inch long deepish scratches. I think they must have come from a damn 4wd that was parked next to me in a car park. I only noticed them later in the day.

Oh well it could be worse. The Mrs doesn't know why im so upset, says they are hardly noticeable, but they are to me. Not sure how easy they are going to be to get out. Had to happen eventually, just sucks when it does as you spend so much time trying to make the car look nice and keep it in top condition then some dumbass in the carpark carelessly knocks their door into you.

    • I seem to have a 'thing' with doing some sort of damage in the 1st week of owning my cars.
1st car: forgot to put the handbrake on and hit a coolant sensor off when it rolled down the car space...didnt notice it was missing till the engine flooded during peak hour at rhodes on a 3 lane road.
2nd car: parking in a tight underground car park I was too focused on missing the 100k merc next to me so I forgot about the massive concrete pole and scratched the whole rear quarter of the car.
3rd car: back outta my garage for the second time ever I scraped the rear left denvers on the garden bed.

Made a hell of a mess to my passenger side front panel and front door!!
Poor mirror was hanging by its wiring ((
And now have to drive around for a month with the damage because the panelbeaters around Perth are too busy with all the Hail damaged vehicles we have from a really bad hailstorm we had late last year (
What makes it worse is the D%^* blames me for his blindness!!!
Edit: FINALLY fixed....happened on New Years Day, got it back on Friday the 18th of March!!!
That was the time from accident date until it was fixed...actual repair time was 2.5 weeks

Damn. Seriously, 4wd's should be outlawed or people who drive them go for a special licence. They have no place in the city. Way too big for suburban streets and the people who drive them are usually the insecure type or ones that have baby on board stickers.

You mean the "look out, I'm coming through, 20km/h above the limit and without indicators" sticker? Those things are nothing but a stick on excuse for downright dangerous driving.

                • *Sweeping Generalisation Alert* In my experience, most 4WD drivers are arrogant pr*cks and bullies. Except Tuareg and Tiguan drivers of course, they are courteous and patient.

Yeah great..everything straight and fitted tightly together

Although when they took the bumper off the scratched it in 4 places....so I took it back to them and they said they would fix it when I brought it back ( they were waiting on a piece that was delivered scratched )

                    • Well it had to happen as I now have a deep scratch right in the middle of my drivers side door. Just noticed it today while I was washing the car. It's gone past the base coat and looks like a white yellow colour underneath but the paint has flecked off around the scratch. I think some f#$ker hit the car in the car park as I was able to remove the surrounding scuffs with the clay I bought from ccp. Reading through the detailing/repairers section there's a lot of detailers but does anyone know of a good paint repairer in Sydney anywhere. I'm not sure if this can be fixed easily without re-spraying the whole door. Need a professional opinion on what can be done.....

I was just actually watching that video earlier today on YT. The Alfa definitely got the raw end of the deal.

...but then again, it is an Alfa. They fall apart in a light breeze.
Golf R ordered, here before I go old and grey: Expected delivery in August. Maybe.
