Yeah - I agree. However, VW Group Australia have _never_ endorsed dealers taking deposits on cars which are not yet released. As such, when the car is actually available to order, and the dealers can put in their requests, the initial batch of cars have already been built and are on their way.

This means that no one EVER gets the car that they ordered in the initial batch from "so called pre-orders". If they do, it's just luck. This is not just the case with the R, but with all VW models.

The things dealers tell people to get a sale! No wonder VWA doesn't endorse pre-orders.

On a side note, 1160 posts in this thread and we are still getting no where LOL

              • The dealers have always told me they have no idea what will be available on the first shipment.

I'm surprised (or perhaps not so actually) that they've told you that you will get a black DSG with 19's and leather immediately.

Yeah that's why I got a GTI. The waiting and speculation is a killer and people are building it up heaps as well. A polo GTI would be good in the mean time while VW are fluffing around, not to mention 6 month wait to actually get the car you ordered.

should be worth the wait though.

                  • Check this Autocar.uk.co video out.

                    Golf R Manual -v- Golf R DSG.

Another reason not to purchase a manual Golf.

My Polo GTI with APR Stage I is basically what's making this wait bearable to me!

I didn't think you would endorse TLGPs.

I must admit I would def consider a DSG for my next car, but I still wonder if the novelty would wear off after a while. Sure, it's not quicker, but I don't make a living from racing cars, so does that times saved with DSG really matter compared to the total control offered by a manual box? I'm not so sure anymore, haha.

Yeah it's a tough one - the 0-100 times are now quoted the same in the spec for GTI, but I know the DSG changes quicker than you can, and more efficient ( in the manual I never bothered changing into 6th all the time at low speeds).

This is a good thing is it not? Being provided with the VIN number means that benjmin has been allocated a vehicle as promised! Congrats man
