Found this, not a video but no idea why people use YouTube for static images? United Grey with black wheels. If we get that combo, I think I've found a 5dr I like!

Needs blacker tyres to pull of the glossy black wheels imho.
I would go the grey with gunmetal wheels.

You could just get a vinyl wrap in a different colour (mazda 2 green would be awesome!)

Hmm I reckon it looks good, but depends on whether we get black wheels as an option. I couldn't be bothered having silver ones painted etc.

The dealer principal from Austral advised me yesterday that he had just received some more communications from VWGA on the R... asked me to send him an email to remind him to send it on to me (he wasn't in his office at the time).

I also confirmed with him that they are still prepared to do a launch event for VWWatercooled members in SE QLD. I advised him that I was confident it will be well attended...

It does look good but the wheels are so black that it makes the tyres stnad out and they seem brown/dirty.

The silver wheels would turn "gunmetal" with brake dust on them anyway

I wouldn't be paying extra for oem wheels when you can get a set of lightweight aftermarkets for a lot less in almost any colour you want.
Plus thoss wheels are the 19" ones and 18's would be much better for what the R is designed for.

I'd be quite happy with silver 18", black doesn't do it for me in that style and just makes the car look like cheap ****. Some black BBS CH would be better IMO.

Also if you got 19" you'd really be best gettin ACC as well.

Normally I'd agree with this, but the 'factory upgrades' for both the GTI and R are so cheap that you can't even buy THE TYRES that come on them for as cheap as the upgrade costs you.

GTI 17" to 18" is only $1200 and you get quality tyres like Continental SC3 which would cost much more than $1200 alone.
The R 18" to 19" upgrade I only going to cost around $1350 (best guestimate from average of the option in other countries). You're lucky to get even average 19" tyres in this country for that!

So in other words, if you WANT the 19" wheels, buy these, get the free tyres, sell the rims to another person who wants them but ordered from a 'showroom floor car', and then go buy your aftermarket wheels later

6 months wait for new GTI orders? Hell I ordered ~20th December and my date of delivery is the 20th May! And that isn't a recent order at all.

Sounds promising if we get pricing details in the next week or so. I'm about 7 weeks out from the GTI arriving so I need to decide if I am switching and sell my 07 SP23.
