    AMEN to that!!

Word of warning; if your not parking the car in a garage overnight, you have solid odds that eventually it will leak.

The whole concept of the modern sunroof is that water fills around the glass, in the roof, and collects in the channel as its supposed to; all going well, it drains down small tubes that run through your roof lining and down the window pillars and eventually drips out onto the road; all going well, it works fine.....

BUT, if you park outside most of the time and dust and grime eventually fill those drain tubes, your sunroof will eventually leak and water will pool in the drain tubes and make its way into the headlining.....

I love sunroofs but never again; I found out the hard way.....

Was that with a VW or another manufacturer?

Also... why don't you clean the sunroof channels? Wouldn't it be possible to do that?

VW; yes, you can clean the crap and muck out however its impossible to get it all out, not to mention its an awkward place to clean - until it leaks you dont realise its dirty, the outside of the car can be well maintained, its the dust thats the killer

if your car spends most of its time in the garage its likely to not be a problem; if you dont garage it, think about how hard you want that hole in the roof.....

And how old was the car?

Most people won't keep the car more than 5 or 10 years but know a lot of old cars have that problem.

car purchased by me brand new in 2005, it had leaked within 2 years - im not trying to scare anyone off a sunroof, just keep it in mind when your deciding; when you think about the whole concept of a sunroof is bound to open up issues; its not just a VW problem, I know others who have dealt with the pain of a leaking sunroof - im sure VW is at the better end of issues around sunroofs

Its a personal choice at the end of the day; caveat emptor......

Had one in my 06 Jetta, no problems at all in the three years I owned it. It was NEVER garaged in that time and had no leaking problems. I found I used it almost every day and often at night, I think they are a great idea.

It would seem that cleaning the drain tubes from time to time would prevent them from blocking thereby eliminating the problem of leaking.

                  Cheers

Now that you have insulted every Eos and Cabby owner on this forum, I'd be interested to know where pompous fits into the argument. I often have the roof down on my Eos, that's why I bought one. So am I correct in assuming you think I am pompous just because I like the openness and feeling of freedom afforded by a convertible?

My 2006 R32 was parked outside literally across the road from the beach and on a major road (shed load of dust, sand, saltwater etc) and never had any probs.

Always bound to have someone with some problem with every option available on every car. Just gotta hope you're not the one as living your life according to what MAY happen has got to be quite dull.

Don't take it too seriously, everyone is entitled to their tastes and opinions (but wasn't even thinking about the EOS). Didn't mean to offend anyone .

I had a sunroof in my second hand A4 (and liked it), yet to pay for one as a new option.

I must be the King of Pomposity. I have a motorcycle
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

                                You pompous bastard!

I love motorbikes but have come off one too many and seen a number of friends killed or seriously injured on them. Closest alternative I could come up with is a convertible so that's what I drive.

Reality is, I don't give a flying fig if people think I'm pompous, a show off, up myself, an idiot or anything else, it's my choice and they can take it or leave it just as they can drive whatever they like.
