well the tails are on regardless, would VCDS update fix this?

    • Mr fox, I have checked my car and the tails light go off when the headlights are off even when DRLs are activated.

Do you recall if the stock tails went off or stayed on? if they went off, then my guess is the coding should fix it. If you have some spare time maybe swap them back and check (unless anyone else can confirm). I cannot remember if mine went off or stayed on before coding.

(There's also some suggestion that 22 might work for rear-fog-equipped 2011 cars with halogens.)

I've updated my coding post with the above information... anyone who tries out these configs on a 0615 car, please let me know the outcome so I can update my post.

I've also emailed the German VW dealer requesting any updated coding info he may have.

Anyone who's got a 0615 car - I strongly advise you to read the last few pages of the VWVortex thread and glean all the info from it you can. Might be worth emailing Dana @ Ross-Tech as well.
        Hi Adam,

        I replied to a 2011 / SWL 0615 / RHD ( I believe Singapore market?) here with a few experimental suggestions:

VWVortex.com - LED tail Install with or without Rear Fog.

Please post some feedback on those. My car is a 2010 / SWL 0576 / LHD so I can't test this.

Thanks very much Dana. I don't have a 0615 car, so can't test this myself, but hopefully someone else on the forum (eg mr fox) can. If I hear anything further on this, I'll PM you the details!

          • I've just heard back from the (German dealer) supplier of my tails ref coding for 0615.

I believe he's saying that for Halogen-equipped (non Xenon) cars, 0575 and 0615 require the same coding: 15. (He sounds somewhat confident of this.)

He also says that for Xenon, it should also be the same as for 0575: 43. So, hopefully it should either be that or possibly 22, as indicated by Dana's post in the VWVortex thread.

Any feedback from persons with 0615 cars is appreciated!

            • I hope this can all get sorted. I really want to order some lights and get this done on my March 2010 build xenon equipped GTI!

Mate, coding for yours is almost certainly 43. I'm guessing you'll have a central electrics revision of 0575. No-one's confirmed it, but the instructions are pretty clear. Someone in the UK got it working with 15 as well.

                • Well no rush - gotta order my KW V3's or PSS10's before I worry about taillights - but its good to know.

Coded Adem's 2010 GTI on Saturday (I think it was April build). Controller was 0575. The car had Xenons. Tried 43 first but when we re-scanned it came up with 5 faults for the rear lights. Changed coding to 15 and the codes all disappeared.
elisiX, you will have no problems coding your car. Let me know if you want a hand with VCDS coding when / if you get them.

                          • Just a quick question regarding the LEDs. When ordering my GTI the other day i spoke with the dealer and he said that it will put the car into limp mode if you dont get the coding done. Has that occured for anybody?

It won't go into limp mode at all. It will cycle a list of rear light warnings on your MFD when you first turn on the ignition and the yellow globe out warning light will stay illuminated until you do get it coded.
