Try reading through this and this.
Thats fair enough, In those links I posted the people posted what the part numbers were for tinted and non tinted Brake lights with Fog lights on the left or right aswell.

So I just matched them up. So I am 99% sure they are correct. Unless I am missing something?

I also read through those links you have, and I was under the impression it was a simple task of:

    - Remove old brake lights
    - Insert new LED brake lights along with the adaptor
    - Connect car to computer and re-program the car to remove the 'Bulb Out' warning?

Why are the people in those links above taking out their light switches and changing around other wiring in the car?

    • Thats if they don't have rear fogs (which the US doesn't have) and 2 x reverse lights. What they are doing is buying LED lights with the fog and then rewiring a new light switch to suit.

        • Stick with your ugly bulbs < Golf R ppl. Having base model golfs with LEDs will look like Peter Costello with a boob job... Its not the way nature intended! Deal with it!

            haha each to their own...

Keep in mind that the LED Brake lights are STANDARD on the Golf GTI and GTD overseas and are an option on all other variants overseas. It is not something that is 'exclusive' to the Golf R at all.

No they're not. They're an option. The only diff between here and overseas is that they're not an option here.

Well from what I have read that is not the case:

Rear LED lights for the Golf VI are now optionally available for €350 but come standard on the Golf GTD, Golf GTI and Golf R.

                  • The article is not correct. It should be that they're standard on the R, optional on GTI/GTD and not on the stardard models. They've never been an option on standard models in the UK. If you go to the UK site now and download the GTI brochure, the regular taillights are still featured in the brochure.

                    • A guy on MK6 lives in the UAE - his MK6 GTI comes with them standard..
Hi guys, just picked up my new GTI this week, candy white with 18" detroits. I will get some pics posted up soon but one thing that I want to know is: Do the 2011's come with the R tail lights? It seems that the ones over here in Dubai do :happyanim: We get a choice of 3 specs over here, I...

Bit similar to doing JDM mods on jap cars (and other subtle differences with overseas models and standard/optional equipment).

Either way if they are an option then they aren't exclusive to the R.. (even though they give the R some sort of character).

Not sure about the UK, however according to the Germany site they LEDs are standard on the GTI there.

and slightly off topic, didn't realise the 18s were standard on the GTI in the US!

And...I've been told just last week...that the GTIs are somewhere between Aud$2-5k cheaper if not more...selling for around the mid to high 30s.

I guess there are different tax's that they have over there with cars which probably makes them cheaper? Plus VW doesn't need to accomodate for the stupid Australian Design Rules, which prob relates to increased prices for Australian customers?

                              • Just coded my car, video uploaded

                                Hi all,

I finally got around to coding my car. Thanks to AdamD and Ozram for their help with the coding.

I have made a quick video of the coding for anyone interested.

                                Worked like a charm
