      • Two tail light orders in Melbourne? I wonder how much are the lights and the delivery cost. Maybe a group buy and sharing the delivery cost will help bring down the price?

Over on the UK GTI forum they are flipping out because VW has apparently already upgraded the MY10 GTI with LED rear lights and keyless entry.

Apparently the LED's look like this (on GTI R here):

                Volkswagen Golf - Picture Gallery - Autocar.co.uk

Does anyone know whether the LED tail lights are on the GTI's spotted in Aus?

If not, this could mean that the first shipment will be "out-of-date" even before delivery. Unless VW dumps the old tail lights on Oz, you would think that once we start getting the GTI then supply of GTI's with the LED's should not be too far behind UK.

My dealer says that they think there is at least one ship load of GTI's in the country already. I know nothing about how VW runs its production lines for UK and Aus. Apperently the Aus cars are built in Germany. Assuming they build the RHD cars on the same production line, then this probably means the first shipment would not have the LEDs.

I have got my fingers crossed (a) that they release the GTI soon; (b) that I don't have to wait too long after the release for a car (sold my old car and the novelty of riding my bike to work in the rain is wearing thin); and (c) that it comes with the full MY10 spec including LED tail lights.
Dude, thats just a golf R, and my adidas GTI comes standard with these rear lights

                • If you're going to go around commenting on old threads, can you at least take the time to look at the actual topic, and the date that a question was asked?

When that post occured (1st Oct 2009):
                  1) There was no such thing as an Adidas.
                  2) The Golf R was still regularly referred to as the R20 or GTI R as Volkswagen hadn't officially announced it as the "Golf R"
                  3) And still today, it's NOT standard in Australia on the regular GTI...

                  • Hey guys ... help needed. Tried to code the tails tonight but we couldn't get it to work. My central revision number is 573. We changed byte 15 to 00010101 but still have all the fault codes. I couldn't find byte number 43. My car is a early 2010 build with bi Xenons. Big thanks to Brandon for helping me out, any help would be much appreciated . Thanks Omee

Read the above quote Omee that should help you out

count from - left to right (you'll have around 25-30 boxes with numbers in it)

                      box 1 = byte 0
                      box 2 = byte 1

you want byte 18 (so count 19 boxes)

and then just change it to 15, (dont need to use binary as it will auto update into binary from hex)

                      • Do you mean change it to 15 in the drop menu in byte 18 ? Where all the light setup options are ?

See this post from Golfitup - his Youtube video walks you through it step by step.

The VCDS interface for byte 18 may look a little different now as the software is updated over time, and Ross-Tech may now provide a drop-down for that byte given various users' feedback on what each value does. The key is to make sure you code byte 18, and set it to the correct value (shown in hex and binary) that's appropriate for your model and configuration (ref the coding summary for more info on that).

                            • Hi All,

So i've just read through all 47 pages...

Just wondering if anyone with a 2011 build has bought and installed the LED's? If so what codes are used?

I'm expecting to take delivery of my GTI in May and really want the LEDs but might wait until there is more info for 2011 builds.

                              • I saw a brand spanking white GTI on my jog yesterday afternoon with Xenons and it had the front and rear LEDs, looked pretty cool . Hopefully they make it standar for MY12 but we all know how likely that'll be...
