Just got my tails delivered from carsystems.pl as recommended my Ozram! (Cheers buddy) Only cost $700 inc. shipping and they are perfect quality, fantasticlu packaged and it only took 1 week to get here

VACAR LED Taillights

Heaps of people in the US seem to run them. From photo's they look identical to OEM to me.

Been corresponding with the VACAR sales manager. He assures me that he can supply LED taillights for a right hand drive vehicle with a foglight on the driver side and reverse light on the passenger side and deliver these to Australia for $366.50 US including adaptors. Seems too good to be true.

I asked him how they compared quality wise with the OEM taillights and he indicated that they were close but not quite as good. When asked what apsects were poorer he indicated the mouldings.

I am very tempted but something is holding me back. I assume these would be subject to the same coding issues.

Has anyone in Australia ever purchased and fitted the VACAR lights?

Got mine deliverd for $365 with adapters. Lense quality seems good. Fit is fine. Interior, unseen plastic seems more brittle, but not enough to be a concern. Overall I'm impressed with mine.

And did they need coded and if so was it the same procedure that I have read earlier in this thread?

No coding. The outer lense area - the indicators, tails etc is a nice feel, soft resin type. I think it will be tuff but flexible. The inner black shell is definitely harder, but once screwed in I don't think it's going to matter.

Okay, so 'wow' might be a tad over optimistic like me...the supplier said no coding, but I see now a bulb warning light up on the dash. It doesn't affect the actual operation of the side lights or brake lights, but I will need to get it coded out. Otherwise they are good for $360 odd.

Hi Jake, saw those, but decided the 'style' was too far off OEM R lights. The led clustering and curve is different, and the height of the reverse/clear lense part is too tall compared to OEM.

I went with SET OF Dark Cherry LED Integrate Tail Lights Lamp FIT FOR VW Golf MK6 GTI | eBay
And the proportions seem accurate to the original.
Slightly more, but I can vouch for the final outcome.

Very pleased with ebayer. Made sure he sent me corrected sided fogs. Boxed within a box, and individually padded and lenses wrapped in protective film.

Anxious about the install, but it took less than 30mins. Vw sure made it simple, two hex head bolts for the inner boot lights, and one hand tightened plastic washer screw for the main outer lights. True plug and play. He told me via email, no coding, but the inner dash bulb fault did light up. Doesn't stop operation, just means I need to go to our indi garage and get it coded out.

Price good, lense quality good, fit perfect. So all up - I'd recommend them for sure.

Thanks for the review sVWatt, will have another look at the cheaper ones and make a call later on.

Good to know at least that there is a decent set in the middle of the price range.
