Mine OEM set from VW Germany (Ozram contact)arrived today just as I cancelled my GTI order and switched to a lovely RB R! Will put them up for sale shortly at cost approx $685.

Don't go cheap - use quality parts...and benefit from those that have made sure it works well.

Those fleabay stuff maybe be half the price but they could also be double the trouble.

Potentially they might be no good, but being so quick to dismiss without any fact is a little unnecessary!

I'm curious to know if anyone has tried them.

No, tinted as you will have seen on this thread (consistent with those fitted on the R). They look the biz on any color Golf IMO.

You won't find any takers for cheap eBay LEDs in Oz to my knowledge (btw your dealer will sell you OEM R tails for $1,300 so under $700 is a bargain).

And yes, the VW LEDs are made specific to Haolgen or Bi-Xenon lights- mine are made for the more common 'normal' Halogen lighting system, and they come with plug in adapters and have coding instructions which are easy (refer YouTube for great DIY vids)

Yeah sweet. I thought the darker/tinted colour as found on the R's was reffered to as cherry red?

Sounds good. How do the taillights differ between headlights? I was under the impression the tails were the same, but different coding was required?

Perhaps it's is cherry red though think even the Germans refer to tinted.

Yes, the LEDtails are the same ie there is no cosmetic difference in the LEDs re Halogen v Bi-Xenon vehicles- simply a difference in adaptor wiring and coding.

Here's a side by side comparison of the GTD stock and R LED tails I took at Bunnings today. Hardly ever see GTD's around and had to take a pic when there was one sitting right there in the car park.
