I don't think you will get $1000 for the stock 17" wheels - regardless of rubber fitted. (I personally think they're worth that and more but I don't see it happening)
mate you would be surprised how many people scratch up their denvers and also how many GTI's are out there. Plenty of people on MK5 have bought them. Also helps mk6 owners get rid of them being the same wheels.
I also sold my stock 18" r32 wheels with rubber for $1500.
Yeah, as G-rig has said, if you have the patience to sell the wheels individually, you'll have no issues selling them, given enough time, to people who need to replace a wheel which they've hit a gutter with
just a quick question, in my contract it has factory option for most of the options except for the 18inch detroits and the bluetooth. I know bluetooth is dealer fitted but why does it not say factory opttion against the detroits?
cheers!

That is a bit strange... My 18s are listed under Factory Options on my contract...
Definitly check with your dealer and confirm that he did infact remember to select that option for you...

I didn't say individually, although some people do sell pairs of OEM wheels/tyres.
Oh... It's pretty rare for someone to have scratched ALL FOUR of their wheels though isn't it? You'd wonder why someone would bother replacing them all if they were THAT bad a driver!
Over on GolfMKV I've seen several people offload their Denver 17" wheels individually to other MKV owners who have scratched/damaged a single wheel.
But it's all much of a muchness - you'll have no problems selling them, either as a set (even to 118TSI owners etc) or individually

Don't forget some MK5's are 05 & 06 models or people have their missus driving so the get scratched up over time. Nice to be able to get a clean set and still much cheaper than VW spart parts.
I reckon everyone should order 18" Detroits as it doesn't seem to work out money wise adding them later (ie Dealer fit) and could always sell them in a heart beat.
Okay to get slightly back on track, I emailed my dealers parts area for prices on OEM wheels namely te Vision, Charselton and Black Motorsports (all 18s)
the response made the read it twice:
Vision - $757.63 ea plus a required arch kit for $300 plus $50 for a limiter (anyone know whath the means?)
Charlseton - $1027.35 ea
Motorsport black - $932.70 ea
Now I knew they'd be pricey as they're OEM wheels but holy crap that's a lot!
I've ordered my 2010 GTI with the 18" Detroits but only because it was a good deal to get the 18" rubber. Pretty sure I want different OEM rims as I am not a hug fan of the look of the Detroits.
Hey Wilsona, would you be interested in selling your 18" Detroits at all? If so please let me know, would definately be interested.
