  • Vision 18" Wheels for MKVI GTI

Does anyone have any pics of actual GTI's fitted with the black and silver Vision 18" rims shown on the Australian VAG GTI brochure?

I've ordered my 2010 GTI with the 18" Detroits but only because it was a good deal to get the 18" rubber. Pretty sure I want different OEM rims as I am not a hug fan of the look of the Detroits.

Hey I was just looking at the exact wheels, even asked the dealer to price them for me.

If you go to the german VW site you can actually look at them on a mk5, no mk6 picture, and they look pretty nice I think.

Look very similar to the HSV E1 wheels.
Much better than the detrioits i think but there are some nice oem vw/audi alternatives.

They just look too similar to the mk5 for me to appreciate.

If they looked like the advanti concept's i would maybe consider them:

The wheels are a $1200 option. You then have stamp duty, and possibly LCT on top of that. So it's really not that great a deal.

It's about $200 more (minimum depending on your cars applicable taxes) than it'd cost you to purchase the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric from tirerack.com (including shipping), and the Goodyear is a better tyre than the Conti or Bridgestone that you'd get on the Detroits.

Plus... tirerack.com have a great selection of genuine branded wheels which can be around a similar price to the 'copies' available in Australia. So you could get the tyres you want, fitted to the wheels you want, and save much more than ordering your 18" Detroit option and then getting different wheels locally....

The only caveat to that, is you may find someone that would like the Detroits and is willing to buy them without the rubber and therefore come out in front that way

Are you talking about the Visions or the Detroits? I was told that the 18" Visions are a ~$760 Each option (not including rubber). So depending on tyres, you are looking at an extra $4k to have them put on over the base price.

Definetly better value to get something after market or from Tirerack.

@Glennb - if you look at my post, I quoted the OP who said he had ordered the Detroits. So obviously I was talking about the Detroits being $1200.

But yes, you're correct, either way you look at it, you're best to get from tirerack if you're not interested in the Detroits

Slightly off topic but related, Tirerack have the F1 Asymmetric 18" at the moment for around US$190 a corner.

Actually it's only US$180 to be exact for the 225/40 R18 suitable for the GTI 18" Detroits, or US$135 for the 225/45 R17 for the standard 17" wheels. Shipping may cost around $250, but you still come out so far ahead any deal you can get in Australia

I haven't seen them on a mk6 but i did see them yesterday on 2 new MY10 EOS special editions up at south yarra. they caught my eye straight away and I had to go have a closer look at them.

If u want a pic i can grab one later on.

Yeah, they are the standard rims on the Eos White Night special edition. Looks pretty cool. Those the wheels remind me of some old Holden rims.

They look pretty nice, thanks for the pics, not the Vision though they're called Budapest, very close and probably a bit nicer, but I think there exclusive to the model
