Mine have not moved and are quite firm. It seems once they are against the bumper they want to stay put.

Yeah, I was lucky. I took mine off after about a month. It wasn't scratched so I got away with it.
I must admit, I did like the carbon fibre one that covered everything. It looked first rate.

              • While not cheap the quality is 1st rate and also support is great. I had an issue with the supplied screws so spoke to Mr Lakin (forgot his first name) and he express posted some additional screws the next day.

                  • Hi everyone new on these forums and looking for some advice. I've just bought a MY13 mk6 GTI and trying to decide on the best type of plate. I live in QLD and looking at getting the 2x2 Flexi plate, 372mmx100mm. Doe anyone else have this combination or any advice to attach to my car, I see a lot of people are using the lakin back plate. But already have two drills holes in my boot lid and want to minimise unnecessary holes. Thanks everyone!

Lakin plate holders use existing manufacturers holes. Check the website or contact directly to confirm. They are very helpful!

or should i just leave as is?

                        • on my R ( looks same on Passat with the two pins vertically oriented rather than at an angle like the gti, dunno about Jetta) just gave it a good, hard wrench and it came out. some drill out the pins, whatever. get it out asap though, as the plastic will rub on the bumper leaving marks. The Larkin holder looks way better than the giant plastic thing, look at LucasR photos for what the black holder looks like on a light coloured ( United Grey) car, looks fine, better than the big Matt plastic thing!
