Just been quoted $1,958 for 1 year and $2,521 for 2 years VW extended warranty for my 2010 GTI by my dealer. Ouch!

Phoned up Eric Sin at VW Burwin on (03) 9752 2844 as per a previous post and he gave me a smashing price straight off the bat.

Won my business straight away and no need to phone around to other dealers.

Fantastic service, he went and researched the WA taxes to get an accurate price and even went and looked up my current warranty expiry date without asking so we both knew when we had to finalise the transaction. He did this in between phone calls so to not leave me waiting on the phone.

Don't get extended warranty from anyone else without checking in with Eric first!

I just got quoted $1653 bumper to bumper for 3 yrs off vwextended warranties. Is this even worth it really, I feel if you read the fine print Im less inclined to do it, but then again who ever reads the factory warranty.

The factory warranty is regulated, whereas what is sold as an "extended warranty" is nothing more than an insurance policy. It is stretching things to even call it a warranty.

Exactly what I was thinking, is it worth it in all honesty, are there even excesses for a so called claim?

I just bought a golf and am selling my polo and the warranty is less on the golf which is coming up in Feb 2014. I basically wanted to sell my polo with warranty on it but in actual fact have bought something else with less.

Update... apparently Allianz is putting their prices up tomorrow. I have no idea if this is a scam or if it's true.

If it was a true factory warranty extension then I'd be signing up for one (Just bought a 2010 GTI with warranty finishing during Sept). Bassik have you got any paperwork on the warranty you could post up or forward through without me having to head to a dealer to talk about it?

Would be interested in looking what is actually offers/covers

You looking at Allianz one or the factory. Because I just spoke to VW and there's is a factory warranty but still it resells under Allianz anyways and includes roadside assistance.

Also the VW service guy mentioned there is no extended warranty 2yr on DSG transmission?

If you call and haggle they tend to give you discounts.

Instead of asking him if there's extended warranty, maybe you should have asked how long the drivetrain warranty was. If he said 5 years then there you go.

You might have confused him because the DSG warranty is 5 years, and years 4-5 are not technically considered "extended" years. He might have thought you were asking if there's extended warranty beyond the standard 5 years.

Edit: Holy moly. I think they have removed the 5 year drivetrain warranty. It's not on the website anymore!

My Polo Allianz extended warranty was $1475 for 3 years through "I need Warranty Now"

$3000 WOW.... I did hear that Allianz just put their prices up but it was still way under $3000 I got quoted $1600 for 3 yrs and roadside. It's all depends how close you are the end of your warranty run out date.

$1980 for allianz new car warranty 3 years extension. 2011 mk6 with 35 000 kms . ** have been requoted $2800 mark now... with the recalls in place for vw i guess the insurance companies are now safeguarding themselves...

covers everything like a new car warranty should plus you can take it to any workshop not just vw. and the claim limit per claim is the value of the car. which is 35-40K ....

good peace of mind. if anything happens its usually 2 years - 4 years period from our experience but then again you get cars that have fault free for 10 years. its a gamble.
