Just wanted to provide some feedback to this thread.

I ended up getting quotes from 3 dealerships for the 2 year VW New Vehicle Extended Warranty (underwritten by Allianz).

After the poor experience with Gold Coast VW (James Frizelle's) [see earlier post], I decided to try the dealership where I bought my car - VW Barloworld Moorabbin - the contact there was Michael who started out by quoting RRP on the VW New Car Extended Warranty - when I told him I'd bought the car through them, he gave me a revised figure, however, it was still the highest of the 3 I received - kind of disappointing - such is life.

Next, on the basis of other comments on the forum, I approached Kathy Wood from Kloster VW - Kathy was exceptionally helpful, went through a number of options, VW New Car Extended Warranty, 3 year/75000km with Allianz and a time-based 2 year/up to 100000km warranty which I believe was also with Allianz. Kathy was very helpful - great customer service. Kathy's contact details are in an earlier post in this thread.

Finally, I reached out to Burwin VW - for no particular reason - just a "random pick" ! Eric Sin contacted me and again, brilliant customer service. By this time, I had decided to go with the VW New Car Extended Warranty and Eric came back with the most competitive price. One other thing - I chose not to play one quote off against another - just approached each dealer and went with the best price - which in this case was Burwin.

I'm very happy with the price I got (from both Kloster and Burwin) - and would recommend contacting both of these dealers to any other forum members. It pays to shop around !

The text in italics in my post were copied and pasted from an e-mail I received from Wangara VW: The manufacturer's warranty can be extended for 2 years. During the two years you will also benefit from the 24 hour roadside assistance. That statement may or may not be subject to interpretation, I was simply reporting it verbatim.

I was under the impression that you can't go direct to Allianz to extend the warranty insurance but you seem to have done just that for your Polo. I'm pleased to note, however, that we're not tied in to VW dealerships.

And for the record, to date Melville VW and John Hughes VW haven't responded to my request.

It's MY 2010. There was another thread regarding extending the warranty, a VW dealership in QLD if I'm not mistaken was offering very competitive rates. Recently I tried e-mailing the contact but it bounced. Anybody know who this was?

It is not from QLD but from NSW and it is looking OK (It was already mentioned here.

This is Kerrys e-mail to me (from few months ago) with Quotes and her contact details:

Does anyone know how this stacks up against the Allianz policy ?
From what I can see I must get oil change every 6 months or 10,000km. Which is more often than the VW specifiy.

To be blatantly honest its barely worth the paper that its written on.

I bought if for my old MKV Golf through the dealer that I bought the car off for $500 for 3 years and I still don't think its worth it.

I made 2 claims, the first of which they originally rejected but after numerous phone calls managed to convince them to pay for the parts.

The second they flat out wouldn't have a bar of it.

Thats just my experience, you may have a better one but if you do decide to buy it I would push for around the $500 mark.

Two weeks ago, the person I spoke with from Gold Coast VW tried to convince me that the VW Extended Warranty was only available when the vehicle was first purchased and then went on to try to sell me their own product. Suspect he didn't know what he was talking about - hopefully others will have more success.

Just bought my 3yrs extended warranty for passat118 for $2500 after doing some research and calling around, finally bought at mascot barloworld VW. At first they gave me 2yrs unlimited km from VW for $2400, but I told her, the Northshore vw gave me 3yrs for $2500. She said there is no 3 yrs anymore, but after calling Northshore VW, she told me they were asked not to do it, but she will do it this time.

Just wondering what your thoughts were on getting extended warranty. Looking to buy a GTI, however Manufacturer warranty finished in March therefore I am unable to get an extended Manufacturer warranty. So now I am left with whether to buy warranty with a 3rd party.

Does anyone have any recommendations.

Most have to be bought BEFORE original expires and they are underwritten by a third party anyway

Hi Hillbilly,

Unless Im wrong, I know i cannot buy extended manufacturers warranty after the Original has expired.

However I can buy extended warranty, for example from NWC that gives me some level of cover, but of course no where near the amount of cover as manufacture warranty.

So just wondering has anyone bought such warranty and recommend any company in particular.
