Extended warranty

Is the extended warranty available to a subsequent purchaser of the vehicle? For example, if I was to go and buy a 2011 Golf R, can I purchase the extended warranty for the car if I'm not the original owner? And/or, can the current owner of the car purchase the warranty, then transfer it into my name?
Cheers,
Brett.

Extended warranty
Highly recommend Eric Sin @ Burwin VW. He gave me a very good price on the genuine VW 2 year extended warranty.
Don't even bother with Gold Coast VW, rang them twice on Friday and left message and still waiting to hear back. Since Rob left them they are hopeless.MY20 Golf GTI TCR

I've attend VW and told them that my car is modified but they were willing to still extend my warranty =/ obviously told them as a joking tone. lol. but he sounded serious. I didnt go ahead because scared he might take the money then advise VW that my vehicle is modified, so best they dont know.

How about we update this thread. I have a quote from McGrath VW at Liverpool for approx $2,800 for 3yrs (can't remember the Kms part) from Allianz for my 2010 Golf R.
Going to call them shorlty and take them up on it unless someone out there has a better offer.Man In Black (MIB)

I have to say, $2800 seems steep to me. I paid just over half that for a 2-year Allianz extended warranty less than 12 months ago.2008 MkV Volkswagen Golf R32 DSG

My car is approaching half way through its life cycle for manufacturer's warranty now. (Golf mk 6 TDI 2011). I wonder if I should start saving for extended warranty considering VW has a 5 year drive train warranty now. Or does that only apply to selected cars. It seems a bit too confusing.
To be honest after seeing how Subaru treats its customers i.e. regarding recalls even if it is something small such as puddle lights I'm not sure if I want to throw any more money at VW Australia. They aren't very upfront about everything either.
My car has done 11 000 km now and I've had it since November 2011. So there hasn't been problems with the car yet and exoticars services my car. I'm thinking to save the insurance money especially that it has gone up in price so much over the few years. Save it towards a new car like the A class Mercedes.
What would you do in my position and why?
