It doesn't matter what you or any of us here say. Here is a quote from the brochure:
Vienna leather appointed seat upholstery with individually heated front sports seats and electric lumbar adjustment
Some parts of the leather appointed seat upholstery will contain man made material.
So it's literally written DIRECTLY below the 'Vienna Leather' in the Optional Equipment list of the brochure.

I mean, if you guys are handing over money for things without even reading what it is that you're paying for, then I'm sorry, but you have no one else but yourselves to blame.

God no... I wouldn't spend $40k plus on a car and get cloth!
I don't give a crap that the backs of our seats are vinyl. I mean hell... if you don't like it, go buy a BMW... oh wait... instead of using vinyl on the backs of their seats they just put plastic... so go buy a Porsche... oh wait... instead of putting vinyl on the back of their seats they put aluminium... so if you don't like it go buy a Ferrari.. doh, carbon fibre! hehe

It's more than just the seat back. All the side bolsters on the MkVI are vinyl too, with the exception of the panel immediately adjoining the main centre panel on the seat back and base. Not sure about the head rest, but as few as 6 panels on each front seat are genuine leather. But as mentioned, you do get heating too, which goes some way to justifying the price.

I had the Golf 'Leather' in my 2008 GTI and loved it. As I said, I'd never buy a $40k+ car without leather.

But if you're not happy with the VW 'leather' and demand a higher standard, then save your $3k and go to a specialist to get exactly what you want. You give up the heated seats and the electric lumbar adjustment, but then you can get leather, suede, and whatever colour you want

I agree, there are certain luxuries you expect when spending over $35-40k and leather is one of them. Sets off the car straight away over the base models.

I'm sure there are good upholster companies out there but usually isn't worth the effort and as you say you lose the heating and elect adjustments so people should realise you are also paying for that.

I agree... I'm just sick of the whinging, so I've turned to what others have said in every other one of these threads which has come up over the past few months... if you're not happy with it, do it yourself!

My wife and I felt the Jacky interior looked great with the Candy white and the leather looked better with the darker colours but thats our opinion .

                    Cheers

Why would you want heated seats and leather in Queensland????
Leather in summer is hotter than the surface of the sun and once you sweat on it, its stuffed! Give me cloth any day.

Sweat stuffs up leather? You must be thinking of suede. Why make shoes out of leather if liquid ruined them?

Winter can still get cold, only if it's for a month or two. It's a good feature to expect in this day and age and spending 40k+.

It helps not parking in the sun if possible and also using a sunshade on the windscreen, also helps your hands not getting hot on the wheel/gear shift

Tinted windows also cut out a lot of the heat and UV.

Good thing about leather is you can clean it. What happens when you sweat on cloth? Unless you steam clean it then it would smell more..

Yeah the cows manage to survive, but that's why you clean and condition them - although mainly to prevent them drying out, not recommended to get in the car fully drenched.

Try wearing your leather shoes in wet conditions without proper leather conditioning and see how long they last!
I know this from golf (the game, not the car) shoes being ruined in a week without proper conditioning.

I think the more important question is, Why would you want to live in Queensland????

And as others said, sweat doesn't hurt leather. Sweat is bad for suede and cloth and will stain both, but with leather it just wipes of with a damp cloth rinsed in a mild ivory soap and water solution (or a tissue/rag for day to day wiping if you park outside all the time and are a 'sweater').

I'm going to cancel my internet connection and save $50 per month cause I don't need the internet anymore. Why? Cause coreying knows EVERYTHING. Just ask him, he's always right in every post
