Lol, he doesn't let anyone disagree with his chosen options, like a lot of people backing their purchase/choice..

Sure a warranty might only be 3 years but if I had a whole in my seat within reasonable KM (under 200k) I would be pissed.

Noooo leather!!! But I must say VW have replaced it under warranty. They have exceeded my expectations in that the whole seat was done.

Wow - what MY GTI do you have? And was it 'black' or beige leather?

Latte leather. It started before 10,000km and for a new car this shouldn't happen. Almost got cloth. Love the tartan cloth.

just my 5c to the topic

                  - problem with leather it heats up on a sun like crazy - dont know about other states but in SA its a big issue (friend of mine got one and he alos got 2 towels in a trunk just in case if he forgot to put screen cover)
                  - car looks very dark inside
                  - I find cloth seats more comfortable

personally going with cloth AND I really dont like 'Scottish skirt' look of it but I defiantly dont want leather....

Well i have always had cars with cloth seats.
I have gone leather this time round for a change. I was having second thoughts about having leather or not as the cloth looks great in the mkvi GTI.
But in the end i want something different and went leather. Would be better in a Red colour thought i reckon.

Ive got the tartin (jacky) seats in my Mk5 and the side bolster on the drivers side is worn out a bit, apart from that the seats are holding up fine. Personally i would of chosen leather but couldnt justify the extra price tag. Leather just looks, feels and smells better then cloth.

Also some one said cloth doesnt absorb sweat, ive found first hand that after being at the gym and driving for a bit with a sweaty back that my drivers seat is damp and gross afterwords, i never had this issue ever with a leather fitted car.

I had leather in my last car (a Peugeot which was big mistake) and the leather that had worked really well. It had little holes in it so that the seat could 'breathe'. I would choose the leather option every time I get a new car...

My MK5 bolster had a hole worn in the right hand drivers side. Was really disappointed with this as the rest of the cloth trim was in excellent state. Hence, when ordering my Mk6 GTI I went for leather. Hopefully will not have a wearing problem as I intend to keep this car longer.

Mine hasnt quite worn a hole but it looks like it could be going that way, which really sucks because the rest of the car is spotless. I think its fairly common with bucket style seats, my GF's 2005 integra has bucket leather seats and they are cracked in the same spot my hole is.. Hopefully the MK6 will be better though!

If you guys get leather, just make sure you get some Meguiars Leather Conditioner/Cleaner, or a similar product, and apply that every 6 months. I'd say every 3 months if you park your car outside all the time. It'll keep the leather in good condition
