I did use corp discount though.
    Cheers Doug.
Yeah, I've only just begun price shopping, this thread is a great guide.
I will see about the 18's...I do like the appearance of them over stock.
Around the 41-42 mark including wheels would be ok with me...I'm an average guy with simple tastes...
    Thanks man.

It is possible to get a better price than that in SA. For a start, if you take your best interstate price to your local dealer and ask them to match or better it, they just might. Worked for me.

care to share contact? I did and I got 47k best offer on a same car (after I asked them to match it)
so at this stage about to get it from ViC and go wit the whole car from interstate process which is a bit of a pain but still works out to be cheaper by 2.5-3k

I dealt with Ashley Matthews and Chris Clarke at Medindie. My father has a pair of VWs in Sydney and had obtained a couple of good quotes for me from there, so I walked in with a printout of the best sales offer I'd received. I was prepared to buy from NSW if the price differential necessitated it, but the local guys were great and undercut the Sydney dealer. I'm very pleased I was able to deal locally, and would definitely recommend Ashley and Chris.

          • Okay well over the next couple of weeks ill be going to some VW Dealers around Victoria to see what they can offer me on the following:

Golf GTI 3 Door DSG: $45,696.93 (price according to the VW Website)
            White or Red.

            Satellite Navigation RNS510: $2500
            Media Device Interface: $270
            Park Assist: $1400
            Reversing Camera: $500
            Adapative Chassis Control: $1500
            Xenon Headlights: $2000
            18” Detriot: $1200

            Roughly $55,066.93
            ($9370 on options)

Excluded Bluetooth, Floor Mats, Boot Liner, Scuff Plates. (no pricing on those)

I was trying to find that excel spreadsheet to compare what price other people have been getting, and I cant seem to find it?

anyways people have been mentioning to aim towards a 8% to 12% discount? is that about right?

            8% Discount = $50,600
            9% Discount = $50,050
            10% Discount = $49,500
            11% Discount = $48,950
            12% Discount = $48,400

            What are peoples thoughts?

              • GTI stitched floor mats are <$300. It does however come with genuine vw mats as standard. Also, don't forget th USB cable for th MDI if you wish to connect your iPhone/iPod. This is ~$90 off memory.

                • Yeah - I agree with your roughly $55066.93 onroad price. Although you're not exactly calculating it properly (as all those options are subject to stamp duty too), the VW website price is far enough out that your price is probably just over the on road anyway.

As Christopher has pointed out, the GTI already comes with great quality floor mats. They're specifically fitted for the Golf and are plain black. However, there are dealer option floor mats which have a sticked red boarder and the GTI logo embroided in them. So I've listed the price below:

$1980 Premium Bluetooth Kit (although there are much cheaper options - check the forum here dedicated to bluetooth etc for more info).

And the rest care of Maverick's site, www.my-gti.com
1K0061160 Boot Mat, Moulded Foam $136.46
1K0061180 Boot Mat, Rubber Liner $181.41
5K0061195 Boot Sill Protective Plate, Stainless Steel look $215.55
5K0061197 Boot Sill Protective Film, clear $96.86
5K0061162 Boot Tub Storage, with internal dividers and lid $483.07
5K4071310 Door Sill Protective Strip, 5 Door, Black with Silver Insert $193.93
5K4071310A Door Sill Protective Strip, 5 Door, Clear $121.17
5K4071303 Door Sill Protective Strip, 5 Door, Stainless Steel $242.50
1K2061271PBRYJ Textile Floor Mats with embroided GTI Logo, Anthracite (set of 4, front and rear) $204.38
1K2061501A041 Floor Mats, Rubber Black, Front $99.00
1K0061511041 Floor Mats, Rubber Black, Rear $81.95

I have an iPhone, and from what I have read it does not work with VW's premium Bluetooth setup? So what is the price of the unit that does work with the iPhone?

I'll assume that the floor mats are just the ones which are already included by standard in every GTI (since you haven't said 'rubber' or 'embroided' etc etc).

I figure this to be about $49,800 on the road in NSW - which gives you a ~$5000 discount or ~10% discount. Congrats

That deal is so good I'm not sure I believe it!
I figure the car is ~$50240 on the road, which would mean you've got a $7740 discount, or 15.4% - which just seems TOO good to be true!

                            Congrats.

                            • Yep mine is basically the same spec and was 2 grand more and I felt I bargained them pretty hard. I didn't have corporate discount though.

If you honestly got that deal without a trade in or anything else in the mix, well done I guess. I gave it my best shot and I was no where near that.

I got an initial quote for the same car with leather and it was 52, not 42!
