Both of those are options in the regular Golfs, but it just so happens that the RCD-510 is standard in the GTI and (presumably) R.
I actually wasn't sure, but assumed it would work with the new touchscreen (RCD-510) as well which would be standard in both cars. Bluetooth & MDI should also function the same way it would on the RNS510.

Good knowing you can retrofit the RNS later as it would save on LCT in the case of the R.

I'm looking to buy a GTI in a few months time and have been browsing the forums in anticipation / research. I have inquired for some quotes to get an idea of how much its going to cost me.

      Quote 1
      3 door GTI DSG
      Candy White
      Corporate Discount

      Quoted: Just under $43k driveaway

      Quote 2
      3 door GTI DSG
      Candy White
      18" Detriots
      MDI + cable
      Corporate Discount

      Quoted: $42,500 drive away

Obviously the second quote is much better, so at the moment that is my benchmark. Keeping in mind the above quotes are just enquiries, i should be able to haggle the price down a bit further yeah?

      Thoughts?

          • Hey guys!

I'm new to this forums so I hope I've placed this post in the right place.

I went over to a dealership yesterday here in vic and long story short the car I wanted would take a couple of month but they have one car on the floor with the configuration below:

Golf GTI 5 Door 6 speed DSG 5K19V3/10
Metallic / Pearl Effect paint MP/PE
            Vienna leather upholstery
            Detroit 18“ alloy wheels (4)
            SatNav (without dynaudio)
            MDI

            Price at 51000 or.

            Is that a good price?

            Thank you for your advice!

            • I figure that the onroad price of that car in VIC is ~$55,900, which gives a ~$4,900 discount or ~8.2% discount.

To be honest, the discount is not the best - many people have received around 10 to 12%. BUT, this car is on the floor and ready to drive away now, not in 6 months time (lol, there is no way you'd get an ordered car in 'a couple of months' at this point in time). You would expect them to be less flexible with floor stock because there's the immediate demand there.

If you're happy with that specification and the colour, and as long as it has not been a 'test driver' etc, then I would be tempted to take it.

              • Hey Coreying,

Your right about the discount, this was the price just after corp discount before any hard negotiation. I honestly am not interested in the sat nav but its exactly as what you said its hard to turn down the offer of driving away with the car in a couple of days.

What is the best way to identify if the car has not been "test" driven?

                Thank you.

                • a quick and dirty one would be the number of km's.. lower km's, the lower the chance it was a test drive..

                  • Yep, as Christopher said, that'd be what I'd be looking at first. Almost no new cars have 0km, but if it's got only say 30km on it, it's probably fine. As for the Sat Nav - it really is a great system - and offers much more than just 'Sat Nav' - so I'm sure you'll be happy that you have it when all is said and done

                    • Do Melbourne Dealers not want to deal ?

                      Folks,

I have looked at all the deals done, and finding it really difficult to find someone who wants to deal , and match some of the better pricing received.

                      I want :-
                      3 Door GTI DSG
                      Red or White
                      RNS510 + Dyna + MDI & Cable
                      Sunroof
                      Xenon
                      ACC + 18" Detroits
                      Park Assist and RVC

I'm eligible for corporate plus. Best price I have secured is $52,980 drive away. I also used private fleet, which was a total waste of time, as they were more expensive !

Is this as good as I'm going to get .... I had a $52,500 budget !

                      Cheers

I figure the price for those options on the road in VIC is ~$58,000. So you're getting about a $5020 discount, or around 8.6%.
You're correct that it's not the best discount out there, although it isn't bad.

Which dealers have you been dealing with? Maybe it's time to try another area....

unitl you want to add it later and it will cost easily more than that in parts, plus the stuff around. $500 is a great deal IMO.

Better off learning how to park and save $1400

                              • Howdy Coreying,

Yes I was certain I could get 10%, but no Vic dealers seem interested. When I come out and say what I want to pay they say good luck and hang up ! I have a promising lead from a forum member who is confident I can get below $52,500 delivered !

                                Cheers
