That seems like a remarkably good deal. I presume from your profile that you're in Victoria.Originally posted by wdong View PostBring up the price to

It seems like the starting point for negotiations in NSW is higher than Victoria. Im looking at a 5dr DSG model with half the number of options and the discussion is starting at $51k already factoring in a corp discount.Tornado Red GTI

Victoria has a 2.5% base stamp duty instead of a 3% in NSW. It gets worse for NSW since once it gets to $45k 3% of the value under $45k and 5% of the value over $45k.Originally posted by Super View PostThat seems like a remarkably good deal. I presume from your profile that you're in Victoria.

However, that swings around heavily in favour of NSW once the car gets to $57k in which case VIC changes to 5% stamp duty for the ENTIRE value of the car.
So yes, in your case compared to wdong's, he has a head start due to stamp duty.

I'd say that's a pretty decent price.
In comparison I got the following for $35,000 drive away (semi-mates rates)
118TSI DSG
Metallic Paint
Sports Pack Cloth
MDI + iPod Cable
Reverse Sensors
Got quoted $34,500 without the sensors so if you add $3k for the leather option, its pretty much exactly the same price drive away. Main difference is that I'm in VIC.
You might wanna check out these 2 threads for comparisons.

Overall definitely a decent buy - and picked mine up just yesterday afternoon, very happy with it
