  • Thanks Dave. I'll keep that in mind.

As for the DVD working on the base system, i wouldn't think it will work.

The reason DVD playback is at all possible on the Nav unit is because it's DVD based correct?

      • Give it a try and you will quickly find out.

        • Yes thats exactly right - It will only work on the RNS 510 Satellite Navigation system though not the standard RCD 510 stereo.

Also note that you will have to do this every time you want to watch a dvd whilst moving.

*** I am going to cover myself here and state that the above information is to enable passengers to watch a dvd whilst driving and not the driver. Myself and Central Coast Motor Group are in no way implying this feature should be used by the driver of the vehicle and will not be held liable***

It really is great for the kids though

          • lol Dave.. I was wondering where the disclaimer was first time around.

I've also saved the instructions to a txt file in case a mod doesn't like the info being released.

I am actually glad that you have to set it each time rather than it being a permanent function.

            • I've been looking at as many photo's of the GTI as I can find online and am second guessing my choice of the Carbon metallic. I park in a car-park during the day and under a carport in the evenings so the car isn't completely exposed for long periods of time. I've owned a black car before and while it was a pain to keep clean, this time around the car will be covered much much more often. I didn't notice it in person, but in the pictures of the carbon colour i've seen online, it looks kinda green.. which I dont like. Black just looks so awesome but I love the fact that the carbon is GTI specific and that its a little lighter and therefore shows the lines of the car a little better.

How did you guys come to your colour choice?

                • How did I pick my colour? Red cars go faster dont they?!?!?

I really like the red and the white but thought that the white would date quicker than the red, so thats why I went with the red, o and it was available straight away!

                    • ooh, i'm not sure about the Carbon either, but it is my top pick after black.
Black looks great, but mine won't be garaged either so will show up all the dirt.
I just wish VW had a better range of metallic colors:
Black = Great if you can keep it clean
                      Carbon = Unique to GTi
Silver = looks good but a bit boring.
Red = similar to base model color and not metallic
White = Shows up dirt quick and needs decent rims and tint to look good.

                      • In person I easily picked the Carbon over black. I thought the Carbon showed the lines of the car so much better.

Black is just awesome and stealthy.

It's just in various pictures the Carbon looks greenish.

My original choice was white, but my wife loves carbon steel grey. I trust her taste! I think this colour is not easy to keep clean as well because it looks pretty dark.

                          • I'm under no illusion that it wont be as clean as white - but it's slightly lighter tones do make a difference IMO.

My girl has the carbon grey color on her Mazda SP23 and its great.
